| WORKSHOPS | DIRECTIONS WORKSHOPS Eric Haas will conduct a mini workshop on October 24, 2009 on the topic of "Myth Conceptions" Eric Haas studied recorder with John Tyson and baroque flute with Sandra Miller. He has taught at New England Conservatory, Tufts University and Wheaton College, as well as numerous early music workshops, including Amherst Early Music, Pinewoods, Mideast Workshop, and the Long Island Recorder Festival. Mr. Haas has performed on both recorder and early flutes with Emmanuel Music, Pentimento and the Renaissance flute consort Travessada. He served for many years as Music Director of the Boston Recorder Society and is on the staff of the von Huene Workshop, Inc. a workshop entitled "The Singing Recorder." Gene Murrow has a degree in music from Columbia, and studied oboe with Lois Wann at Juilliard. He toured with the New York Renaissance Band and the Paul Winter Consort. He has been coaching at American Recorder Society Chapters and early music workshops throughout the United States for over 30 years, including Pinewoods, Amherst , SFEMS, Port Townsend, and served as ARS President from 1994-2000. He currently is Executive Director of Gotham Early Music Scene, Inc. and serves on the board of Early Music America. *********
In the past, we have had mini-workshops with Susan Hellauer (from Anonymous 4) on music of 14th century Europe---titled "Black Death? What Black Death? or Music to Die for", and Larry Zukoff on the music of William Byrd. In 2006 Deborah Booth coached a mini-workshop on "Music of the Franco-Flemish Renaissance". In 2008, Sheila Beardslee offered two mini-workshops on the music of Tomas Luis de Victoria.
