Snowboarding is such a fun sport. Once you get used to it, it's so much more fun cruising down without falling every minute. I think I started snowboarding in '98. We went to Snoqualmie Pass in WA, and got the first time snowboard package with the lesson. I ended up not going to the lesson though because I would've had to wait it seemed like forever for it... so my brother gave me the basics such as using your toe and heel sides and edges. I just remember falling a lot and not being able to turn.
The next time I went was later that year to Steven's Pass in WA. I remember getting the first time snowboard package there as well, but this time we took the lessons. The only thing good about the first time snowboard package is that it pays for the boots and board as well as a lift ticket. The lesson helped too. The only drawback was you could only go on the beginner lifts. At Steven's Pass it's not that bad, but at other resorts the beginner lift sucks and is so short. But when I was at Steven's Pass, in the beginning...I remember staying on Daisy most of the time and when I was daring took the Hogsback, I think that's what it's called. Anyways... we didn't go snowboarding that much over the next couple of years.
But this past 2001 season, is a different story. I went boarding quite a bit, especially since now I got my own board and boots. I live about an hour and a half a way from Mt. Hood...so why not have some fun? Snowboarding takes confidence as well as the will to learn. I'm still not that great at it but I have fun.
