About "Dione"

Dione ,a modern world cruising yacht (sailboat), strong and sea-worthy.  She points nicely, is fast on a reach and lovely down-wind in anything more than a zephyr. The helm will balance nicely in winds up to a strong breeze and she's not too rolly down-hill. She has a tendency to hobby-horse in a head sea if under-powered & to slam slightly if pressed up-wind in a moderate to heavy sea. Both conditions are common in fin-keelers carrying a lot of gear. She surfs nicely in anything short of a strong gale, when a drogue restores balance and control. Without a storm try sail to balance the jib, she won't heave-to readily but falls off the wind. She lies a-hull quietly, though too beam-on, in 45-60 knots (worst to date). In all, a lovely, sea-kindly yacht; safe, forgiving & very  hard-working.

May she always bring us safely to anchor.

LobsterRummage around these  About Dione pages and find information on her design, construction, specifications, equipment and performance; everything from sails to sounders, rig to radar, tanks to tools, it's all here, in (Vital Statistics).

ManateeThen, check her out below decks: explore the living quarters (very comfy!), find out where the engine hides (tricky!) and imagine yourself snuggled under a duvet in the sea berth, reading about the next island enroute. (Interior)

lobsterOr, if you want to follow her transformation from a neglected ''marina toy'' and play-racer to purpose-built ocean cruiser, then  (History) is the place to start.
