August 24, NH25C Camp spot - mile 1764.6

I believe this pestilence is my intestines is finally starting to leave me, which is cause for great rejoicing! I'm getting awfully tired of mad dashes into the woods.

Today was another really perfect day for hiking. The weather lately is simply amazing and it does wonders for making a great day of hiking. Again today it was somewhere around 70-75* with a nice breeze, and by evening it cools way down to make sleeping really comfortable, too. I'm actually glad to have my winter gear back now, because I'm wearing the fleece and long johns with regularity.

I'm camped tonight alongside a road since it's the only water source in the area. That might be a fairly generous statement, too, as the stream has dried up to only a few shallow puddles. But it's enough to get us through the night and down the road for the last 5 miles to Glencliff tomorrow. A couple I met earlier today, Strider and Wonder, are camped here with me, which I'm glad of. Earlier tonight, just as it was starting to get dark, we heard a couple cars pull up and a lot of voices going through the process of unloading stuff. We all looked at each other and said "I hope they're not coming here." Just by hearing their conversation, we could tell it was a group of young kids, maybe college-age, out to party for the night. Exactly the LAST kind of company we needed! Finally, after a tense 15 - 20 minutes of waiting, we heard them coming up the trail, so we all started up a loud conversation, hoping if they were planning to stop here, they would be put off by all of us already here. I don't know if that was it , or if they had already planned to hike farther, but we were very glad when they kept going!
