Department of MATHEMATICS Science College, Patna
The teaching of Mathematics from I.Sc. to M. Sc. classes was started in Science College in the session :1928 - 1929with 120 students in I.Sc. (First Year) class, 30 students in B.Sc., 18 students in B.Sc. (Honours) class and 9 (Nine) students in M. Sc. (Previous) class.
In 1952, the University Department of Mathematics was created and the P. G. (M.Sc.) teaching was transferred to the University Department from the College Department, but the teaching continued in the same Adminstirative Building till 1962. Then an adjacent building to West of Adminstrative Building was constucted and the PG teaching in maths. was shifted there. So far as time table of Maths. teaching was concerned, it was always under combined routine where by each College teacher (means UG teachers) engaged P G class and Vice-versa.
From the begining the Mathematics Department was of excellent well qualified teachers and reserachers such as Prof. D. N. sen, Prof. P. N. De, Prof. P. N. Dasgupta, Prof. B. N. Prasad, Prof. N. S. Nagnedranath, Prof. V. Rangachari, Prof. Ramavtar Shukla, Prof. R. K. P. Singh, Prof. S. K. Mishra, Prof. K. K. Jha (Present Vice-Chancellor of Patna University), Prof. A. K. Gangulii, Prof. P. Chandra, Prof. A. V. Prasad, Prof. G. Nath, Prof. B. Bhagat.
