Gaelic (Irish Gaelic, Scottish Gaelic, Manx Gaelic)
There are two living, or modern, Gaelic languages: Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic.  Nowadays, Irish Gaelic is usually known simply as Irish; and Scottish Gaelic is usually known as Scots Gaelic or just simply as Gaelic.  But the term Gaelic, by itself, can also refer individually to Irish Gaelic or to Manx Gaelic (a dead Gaelic language).  So, to prevent any confusion here, like some other websites, the Gleaner's will refer explicitly to Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic and Manx Gaelic.  Note, also, that the native Scottish Gaelic name for Scottish Gaelic is "Gàidhlig," while the native Irish Gaelic name for Irish Gaelic is "Gaeilge."
