Links 		There are two sets of rules: Anne McCaffrey's and ours. They are not hard ones to follow but you can not break Anne McCaffrey's... ours are bendable.

Anne McCaffrey's Rules:

1. No using any of her persona's names or close to (Lessa/Lissa).

2. No using Benden or Ruatha. Mentioning of Benden wine is allowed.

3. No relations to any of Anne's personas.

4. No religion of any kind.

5. Only the five colors of dragons: gold, bronze, brown, blue and green. Ruth was a one of a kind and lets keep it that way.

6. The following riders will only be allowed to ride the appropriate dragons:

  • Gold - hetero female
  • Bronze - hetero male
  • Brown - hetero male
  • Blue - hetero/bi male (I will allow bi females but this is limited.)
  • Green - hetero female/gay male

These are Anne's amended rules.

1. Fan Fiction, Fan Art, and online RPGs based on any of my literary works will now be permitted so long as it occurs on a non-commercial basis.

2. With respect to Fan Fiction, Fan Art and transcripts of online RPG activity, care must be taken to ensure that such material displayed on these sites can only be downloaded or accessed for personal, non-commercial purposes. Owners of websites supporting Fan Fiction, Fan Art, and RPGs must take every step possible, including, but not limited to, posting appropriate and prominent notices to ensure compliance with these restrictions. Any reference to the mark “Dragonriders of Pern ®” must be accompanied with a trademark notice indicating registration and my ownership of the mark. You may wish to consult your own attorney about online and Internet law and the rules governing copyright and trademark notices.

3. Mindful that many fans take advantage of “free” web space requiring operators to display banner ads, I will not consider such sites as engaging in “commercial activity,” even if the ads contain “click-through” sales features, so long as displaying the ads are a condition of securing the web space and the website creators do not use sites to sell, or assist others in selling, McCaffrey related derivative merchandise. Fan operated sites are not ‘licensed’ by Anne McCaffrey, are not approved by Anne McCaffrey and do not create an agency or joint venture relationship with Anne McCaffrey, even though they may be maintained with Anne McCaffrey’s permission.

4. Participation in any site promoting such Fan Fiction, Fan Art, or online RPGs must be entirely free to participants. No membership fees or other charges may be levied in connection with these sites.

5. Pornographic sites, based on any of my literary works, are expressly forbidden. But I’m sure you know that. I’m a grandmother, after all.


Western Cove Weyr's Rules:

1. Absoutetely no flaming, I won't permit it. I've been in too many PBEMs where there was flaming and fighting and then no club. So please be courteous.

2. Please don't write for anyone's persona unless you have permission and please put that in your heading. It's just plain rude.

3. Please present your writing in third person, past tense. I know its hard to get used to but once you get the hang of it its pretty easy. Also please put it in block style.

4. I do allow female blueriders but they are limited to two per wing. This will include clutches as well, so for every weyrling class there will be two female blueriders. They also have to be earned.

5. No terran/earth names though some different spelling is allowed.

6. Please limit the flit population. Golds and bronzes are awarded and greens are sterile-- we don't want to be over populated with greens just yet. Since we just opened I will allow two golds for the Weyr, one for the Hold and one each for the Halls.

7. Please use these symbols for:

  • "human speech"
  • }:Dragon speech:{
  • ~~flit images~~
  • **human to dragon thoughts**
  • SHOUTING
  • _stressed words_
  • -=Wher speech=-
8. Dragonriders can not be dolphineers or wher owners. Dragons and Whers don't get along very well and how are you supposed to fight Thread and be with your dolphin partner? Sorry, it just won't work.

9. Please put your post like this:

10. The ages for which you are allowed to be a candidate are 13-23 Turns, gold candidates can be up to 25.   Apprentices can start at 12, making journeyman at 19, and Master as early as 30.

11. This club will run as the followed: 2 real life months for 1 Pern month. Example: January and February in real life will be Month 1 in Pern life.

12. Locations names will be like this, others will be added as needed;

  • Western Cove Weyr - WCW
  • Western Bay Hold - WBH
  • Western Bay Harperhall - WBHH

13. This is a PG-17 club, there will be no sexual content in the post but if you have ever read any of the books you know whats going on. Just fade to black and let the reader's mind run away with them. :)

14. There will be no double metallics in the club, i.e. gold/gold, gold/bronze, and bronze/bronze.
