Nekavita Ella Falls

Let's visit Deraniyagala......it is off A-7 and from there to Maliboda you are actually walking through a land of waterfalls.

The first is Nekavita Ella, the name of the village and can be seen to the road as shown. It is hidden within the thick jungle and only a glimpse can be stolen from the road.

It is about 100m (330ft) tall and can be bigger during the rainy season.

Puwakmal Ella Falls

Traveling alone the same road and through a cause-way (a bit dangerous bridge specially as there is a deep hole in the river....many a vehicle gone into that due to carelessness.. beware and get off the cause-way in one breath and do not attempt to do clutch balancing..!! at the edge.)

one can reach a shrine for the local God "Gambara", and an ancient temple. through this shrine a pond above the waterfall can be reached. This is a very beautiful place and actually sited above the fall (this photo taken from another location). If one cares an icy cold bath this is the place for it as the name of the waterfall according to the villagers this is "Seetha(cold)oya(stream) Fall.... and, is at the border of NuwaraEliya!!!!.

This is about 20m and very close to the Ellapita Ella.

Ella pita Ella Falls

The name means in Sinhala Fall upon a fall and that is what exactly one would see if cares to walk to the fall - this 20-30m fall has two branches and both seen to be on top of one another. And it is close by to Puwakmal Ella Falls-.

It is hidden within scrubs and my descends up to the fall is cut off by dear old leeches!!!!!

Hath male Ella Falls

This is a strange water fall. It flows from the Adam's peak and there is ancient route to Adam's peak which is used occasionally even up to now.

It is seen as consists of seven stages (Male - stages , and Hath means seven). One can see five stages in this 50mm lens photograph and the upper two were hidden in the fog.

There are people who can lead you to the fall and there is a country road only motorable by a land vehicle and if you have one visit it and ... please send photographs to me so that I will publish them here in your name.
