Tax Slaves Dependence Day Recap

Do you feel a bit foolish?

Alrighty now fellow Americans, don't you feel just a bit foolish? You had a great weekend, a wonderful 4th filled with fireworks, fun food, good friends, John Philip Sousa, and pomp and cheer as our nation celebrated . . . celebrated . . . uh, dependence?

I thought I remembered as a kid celebrating the 4th of July while listening to my parents ramble on about how "you should be so thankful for your country because_____" (fill in a lot of blanks here folks. At least mom and dad were done yacking by the time the piccolos had their turn during the Stars and Stripes Forever). But that was back in the good 'ol days while we still had independence.

I cannot think of a more ridiculous national holiday than Independence Day. What are we independent from? There are a lot of things we are dependent on, like foreign oil, illegal drugs, and alcohol. But the real story on the 4th is that we are a nation of slaves for masters in a state of "dependence". When Americans work nearly 50% of the year just to pay taxes, we are slaves. These slaves work so the money they make can be given to about half the public who do not pay taxes.

Who is the master here? Those "in a state of dependence" are the master to those slaving away who happen to be celebrating "Independence Day". Pass the mustard and relish, please.

Was it just a coincidence that Independence Day fell just after the halfway mark of the calendar year, exactly at the time when money you earn starts going in your pocket and not to Washington? Are we celebrating independence from the six months of tax slavery that just passed? Oh, I get it now. Go ahead and watch the fireworks.

George Bush and the Republicans now have so much of your slave money going to African education and various "global poverty programs" that it makes one feel that they swallowed a sousaphone on the 4th instead of a hamburger. Imagine, you slave away for six months, then celebrate Independence Day, and scatter off to work the following Monday knowing that you are now a slave to millions of Africans trying to learn the ABCs.

While tax slaves were celebrating what they thought was "independence" on the 4th, the following chart of facts was not at the "top of awareness list" for most of them.

The green bars show what spending should have been, in billions, if it was increased at the rate of inflation using 1998 as a baseline. This is just for one facet of foreign aid, International Development and Humanitarian Assistance.

The red bars soaring over the green bars like some gigantic Roman candle show what actual spending was through 2001 and the last two bars showing the 2002 and 03 estimates. 2003 is a 38.8% increase over the 1998 baseline when inflation has been running less than 3%!

We face a grave national security risk yet we are spending money on foreign waste at an accelerating rate. Should the slaves feel that their slave money stay in America and be used for national security to defend the slaves?

Do American tax slaves slaving for foreigners really celebrate "independence" in America? You bet. Just ask the Boston Pops.

We all want to "feel" patriotic, especially during these times of threats on our homeland. But if you truly do want to be patriotic, tax slaves should spend at least as much time expressing outrage at foreign nations' increasing dependence on our slave dollars as they do guzzling gook down their gullet on the 4th of July.

Tax slaves owe at least that much to our founding fathers to show that we are at least putting up a fight. And, tax slaves owe at least that much to our veterans—past and present—who fought for our freedom, and to show them we are at least putting up a token fight to fight for our freedom today.
