6 Jun 02 thurs :: Good news!!
:Grandma's
discharged and is now resting at home =). I'm pondering over this
sentence from a book that I just bought.: "God did not call
me to success but He has called me to faithfulness". think
it makes alot of sense to an impatient society like ours. Or rather,
makes alot of sense to me... : /
We have 16 days left to the Big Day. Ivan says he'll organise a
Bachelor's night for me - on the Friday night before the wedding.
We are going to Fullerton One, I think??... Actually, I would prefer
bowling, arcade games or squash in the night. Then after, we can
go for a spin on Benjamin Shears bridge followed by a chat in my
house. That is my preference.. : ). Afterall, I am an "activities"
man. Hmmm.. Anything also can lah... as long as I am not the one
paying. Ha Ha Ha!!!
:: 6 Jun 02 thurs :: Purple dress For ME!!
:John
bought me a deep purple evening dress from Daniel Yam yesterday.
Plus a matching shawl to go with it. He said the dress suits me
better than the one tailor-made by our Bridal shop. ME think so
too.... =)) it's kinda plain but i like it too. If
you're reading this, dun wear anything from Daniel Yam ok? =))

++ To have God in our lives does not mean sailing on a boat with
no storms;
Rather, it means having a boat that no storm could sink! ++
BTW, we're still distributing our cards - please bear with us!
:: 5 Jun 02 wed :: Reflection on 1 Peter
:
As I careen
to a new phase in my life and notice the fallible aspects of life.
The Lord spoke these verses to my life. It is not so much the aspects
of love for husband and wife & for each other that hit the core
of my life, but the verses preceding and after these. Verse 21,
"To this" I have been called to be like Christ in His
sacrifice... Verse 9 of Chapter 3, "...to this" I have
been called not to retaliate insult with insult. Fo a purpose, indeed,
so that a new ministry in our lives can be birthed. PTL!
1
Pet 2: 21-24 - "To
this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving
you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed
no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth. When they hurled their
insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made
no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might
die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been
healed."
1 Peter 3: 1-9 -
"Wives,
in the same way be submissive... Husbands, in the same way be considerate
as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the
weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life,
so that nothing will hinder your prayers. Finally, all of you, live
in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be
compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult
with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were
called so that you may inherit a blessing.
:: 4 Jun 02 tues :: I love my parents
:
think my parents are begining to realise that i (their little girl)
am leaving them soon. for the past one month (i realised), my mom
has been calling my office, asking if i wld be back for dinner and
that she'd cooked some good stuff. My dad, too, wld ask me if i
needed money; not to miss my lunch; who's helping me to transport
my stuff to the new home etc. =))
Actually, I love my parents dearly but dare not tell them that -
too mushy i guess. Perhaps, i shd tell them how much i care for
them on my wedding day?? great idea?
:: 4 Jun 02 tues :: Rejoice! Be Glad!
:
"We are a chosen people, a
holy nation, a royal priesthood, so that we may declare His praises
who called us out of darkness into His wonderful light." 1
Peter 2.9 Praise
the Lord! Paul is saying that this is us. We are the one to declare
His praises, His wonderful mercy.. so I will rejoice, I will lift
up my spirit.
I visited Grandma yesterday. She is much better, her eyes were sparkling
even as she talked. can tell that she's no longer in pain. She's
in the pink of health again. Thank you! thnx for your prayers and
your kind words during this time. I
think we shall see her in the wedding ceremony soon. PTL!
:: 3 Jun 02 mon :: God is good!
:
Yesterday, at Children Church's
meeting, the teachers prayed for me. I felt immensely relieved and
lifted up, knowing that God intimately understand all my needs and
anxiety. He is able to provide for me. A
big Thank you :) to all the teachers. Sometimes, all it takes is
for someone to pray for you, to release the channel of God's ministry
into my life. PTL indeed!
That afternoon, I took time off to "hide" in my new home
to worship the Lord. I picked up my rusty skills to strum song after
song of worship and praises to God. A sweet presence of the Lord
overwhelmed the hall and I savored the closeness of His Spirit.
How wretched are we but divine is His grace that comes upon us at
a time when we feel unworthy! The Lord through that precious hour
of ministry reminded me of His care for the lost sheep and how He
would leave the 99 to look for the one that is lost, injured and
hurt! God indeed care for me as a person. Hallelujah!
Great is His faithfulness. They are new every morning!!!
:: 2 Jun 02 sun :: Grandma's doing fine
:
Thnx
for all your concern. She is doing fine. =))
We had a gentle reminder from our friends yesterday, that we shouldnt
get overly worried about our preparation for the Wedding, instead
we shd get ourselves prepared for our Marriage. Wedding is just
a one-day affair while Marriage is a life-time commitment. =)
:: 1 Jun 02 sat :: Grandma's operation today
:
Doc informed us that grandma has an obstructed bowel, she needs
to be operated immediately. It's considered a major operation as
they will "cut up the stomach to see what's wrong inside".
As for risk factors, he said that less than 1% chance of her passing
on during the operation but the risk is real. Other risk factors
include infection of urinary tract, internal infection or heart
attack. Becos of her old age, doc wants the family to know that
this operation is not simple.
If you are reading this, plse uphold grandma and the family in prayers.
Thnx!!
My devotion reading for today:
Pray
without ceasing. (1 Thessalonaians 5:17) To pray when you do not
feel like praying is not hypocrisy - it is faithfulness to the
greatest duty of life. Just tell the Father that you dont feel
like it - ask Him to show you what is making you listless. he
will help us to overcome our moods, and give us courage to persevere
in spite of them.
