Evolution of Cricket Fashions As the cricket equipment has seen many changes similarly the cricket fashions too, have changed over the years. During 18th Century players used to play wearing JOCKEY HATS covered with silver or gold laces. They used to wear half pants, silk stockings and buckled shoes. The white sweater was not at that time used. Instead the players had to wear buttoned coats. The trousers replaced half pants during the first half of the 19th Century. Hats of course, were used but similar to tall "beaver" style. High-collared shirts were also one of the cricket fashions. The peaked caps replaced the old hats during the second half of 19th Century. The Club colours were also introduced during the same preiod which is quite an important cricketing tradition nowadays. The graceful "All White" kit started to appear towards the end of the 19th Century. The Cricket Helmet became an essential part of a batsman's attire in the 70's. It was popularised by the players who took part in the Kerry Packer's World Series Cricket in Australia. Similarly, coloured cricket kit was first used in the same series. Any comments ?
