Hamlet

Survey #1

Have you ever thought about committing suicide?
Yes-35 people
No-15 people

The conclusions that can be formed about these results would be mostly centered in a positive aspect. Only 30 percent of those survey contemplated taking their life. While 70 percent felt they never thought about taking their life.

The connection to Hamlet stems of his intense state of depression. In fact, one of the leading causes of suicide is depression. The entire play is filled with death and gloom, which often accompanies modern-day victims.

Survey #2

Would you ever think of revenge by death? Do you feel revenge is an option?
12-yes 40-yes
38-no 10-no

Fifty people were surveyed about revenge, meaning how do they feel about revenge.

The questions:

1. Would you ever think of revenge by death?

2. Do you feel revenge is an option?

The results show that 12 are in favor of question number one. While 38 are against question number one. Forty agree with question number two, but 10 disagree with it This shows that there are many broad opinions for revenge as seen in Hamlet. Hamlet wanted to avenge his father’s wrongful death by killing Claudius and exposing his mother as a whore. He was willing to kill to get his gratification. As previously stated, only twelve are willing to follow Hamlet’s point of view.
