Animal Testing

Warning, some descriptions in this article could be disturbing to animal lovers.
As you read this article, you might be wearing make up. Maybe you have just washed your hair or spritzed on some perfume. Guess what? That's okay. But there are a few things that I would like you all to be aware of, and that is animal testing.
You've probably heard about animal testing, but maybe you haven't, so here are the facts: Many big companies test their products on animals. Big names like Calvin Klein, Cover Girl, Pantene, Olay and Sally Hansen are all guilty of this cruel act.
So, what do I mean by animal testing? Just like you put on make up or wash your hair, these products are rubbed onto test animals to see if there are any ill effects. Rabbits have soap put on their sensitive skin to see if corrosion occurs, groups of rats die after soaps are pumped into their stomachs and rabbits have hair color smeared into their eyes, just to see what happens. Animals are killed just so you can have a new shade of lipstick or a shine enhancing shampoo.
Now, what can you do to help? I'm not asking you to jump up and go to protests or anything, but next time you're picking up some new conditioner or that water proof mascara, check the label. Some companies that don't test on animals include: L'oreal, Almay (Revlon,) Bonne Bell, The Body Shop, Andrea and Aveda. Often companies that don't test on animals state it right on the label, so if there is no such inscription on the label, you probably shouldn't buy it. Stand up for animal rights. In fact, if you want to go a step further, write to companies and tell them why you're not wearing their eye shadow or perfume.

Remember, animal testing isn't just done to test cosmetics. Soaps and laundry detergents are also tested and animal cruelty extends to meat and dairy industries as well. I know it's a lot to do, getting rid of all the product in your home and replacing them with ones that are not animal tested. Just take it step by step, one product at a time.
