Laura Bush Faced Middle East Protest

On Laura Bush's weekend trip to Jerusalem to visit some of the city's religious sights, she met angry protest by some of the Jews and Muslims in the area. Some said that she was trying to make a better face for the Americans after what happened with the U.S. investigators in Koran. others protested the life sentence of Jonathan Pollard, and American Jew convicted of spying for Israel. Another cried out that she had no right to be there, when her husband was killing their people.
Mrs. Bush told reporters that she had expected some protests, as this was a holy place with many emotional people and times, but she hoped that the new generation would bring understanding and peace.
On her visit, she also did a women rights talk, did a program with Sesame Street television, and met with Egyptian first lady Suzanne Mubarak. Links:
