Welcome to our Pacific Northwest garden! Let's begin the tour in the back (south) yard, which was finished first. It has been terraced into three tiers. Tiers one and two are primarily perennials, with a small Pond and 3 small trees among them (Sargentina's dwarf crabapple, grafteed blue spruce, and Japanese maple). The picture above shows part of the second tier as of June, 2000: Top Brass Peonies, Pink Jupiter's Beard, Strawberry Foxglove, Blue Victorian Sage, Delphinium, dainthus and purple thyme.
Flagstone and rainbow pebble were added to make pathways and a sitting area. A small pond near the patio provides relaxing water sounds and gives me something to do (feed the fish). The flower beds in this section are mostly in pinks, purples and blues. I'll have more detailed pictures of this in the next few pages.
To this south yard, we added an Herb Bed, some firs I get to whack on in the name of "topiary", a dozen roses, and a very large Peony Bed. Check out the peonies, if you are a peony lover. You'll find the links below for peonies, peony companion plants, and more pictures.
The West Yard is a rioutous group of reds, yellows and oranges. Naturally I added some of my favorite purples, blues and whites for contrast.
None can have a healthy love for flowers unless he loves the wild ones.

The East yard showcases almost all the Irises, and a few flowering trees. (Plum, Dogwood, Redbuds, rhodies; all still quite small).
We left the front yard for last; and it is supposed to be "low maintenance". However, I divided all my irises last year, and a large number of them went into the front yard! There is a special section on that later. The borders of the front lawn consist of rhodies, azaleas, flowering plums, and a variety of flowering bushes.
Pictures of these three areas will come later. Meanwhile, here's the view from our deck:
Snow in Summer, Blue Bells, Maiden Pink dainthus.
