Mesoamerican Society for Biology and Conservation (SMBC)

The 4th Congress of the SMBC will take place from September 4th to 8th, 2000, in Panama City, Panama. Meetings will take place at a hotel and the University of Panama. The objectives of this congress are to promote and to strengthen scientific knowledge about biological conservation in the Mesoamerican region and to address knowledge of the natural and cultural richness of Panama. These objectives will be developed through a Scientific Program, a Cultural Program and Ecological field trips. The Scientific Program will include five days. The first day will be devoted to the 5th General Assembly of the SMBC while following days will be devoted to the different disciplines in the program. Spanish will be the official language of the Congress.

Persons interested in organizing symposia, workshops and panels should contact the Organizing Committee.
2nd announcement
The 2nd announcement for the 4th Congress is scheduled to be sent on March 31st, 2000. This will include information about the location of the Congress, major themes to be covered, deadlines, detailed information about abstracts for oral presentations and posters, information about lodging and food, registration, information about field trips, payment procedures, sponsors, and general information about Panama.
Important deadlines
June 1st: Deadline for reception of oral presentation abstracts, reception of the final structure of symposia, workshops and panels from the organizers, deadline for advance registration with special discount.
July 1st: The Organizing Committee will respond about oral presentations abstracts accepted.

Invitation letters
The Organizing Committee for the 4th Congress could send, by request of interested persons, a personal invitation to attend the Congress. However, this invitation must be considered as a support in order to get some funding or permission about his/her attendance or participation; however, in any case it not means financial support by the Committee.
