As I make my first step
I wanted to spread my wings and fly
Like a butterfly with her new wings
I wanted to see the world and prove myself
But as I take another step further
Fear, trials and problems blocked my way
I am so lost, I felt so alone
Thus, a feeling of despair engulfed me
Tears started to fall from my eyes
As I face failures and rejections
I felt the hurt inside my heart
And that's when I heard a gentle voice
I then looked up and I saw hands,
Hands that held me with such gentleness
I saw eyes which melt my heart
For they are filled with love and compassion
He said with a gentle and soothing voice,
'My child, I am here,
I can feel the hurt that you feel
Let me wipe the tears in your eyes
Let me ease the pain in your heart
Remember that you are not alone
As you make your journey in this world.
'I will always be here for you
To give you strength
To guide you and to light your path
To fill the emptiness in your heart
Take my hand, have faith in me, my child
And you'll feel true peace and joy in your life.'
As I reach out to take my Savior's hand
My life has never been the same again
My journey has come to an end
For I've found what I've been searching for
