Marietta Eugenie Arneau was born in France to Robert and Eugenie Arneau. She spent much of her life travelling with her parents, but they finally settled in Paris when she was seventeen. That is where she met and fell in love with Will Marshall. Marietta sings, plays piano, paints, and dances. She studied ballet for a short time. She speaks French, English, German, Latin, Greek, Spanish, Italian, Portugese, and a little Russian. She is an only child, and loves her husband's nieces and nephews. She became close friends with Tess upon Tess's arrival at Belleterre. She loves animals and gardening, and enjoys living at Belleterre. Marietta has black hair and blue eyes. She regained her figure quickly after the birth of Anne Marie. Annie is a healthy baby with whispy blond hair. Marietta was devastated when news came that her father, Robert, had died, but the pain was lessened with news that her mother, Eugénie, was coming to visit.
