Tess Hartley Marshall

TessBorn Theresa Frances Hartley, Tess was orphaned at age seventeen. She had a happy childhood and loved her parents. She was intelligent and through with school. See the premise for further information. Tess has a small body but a nice figure. She has dark, wavy brown hair; beautiful blue eyes, lily white skin, and a sweet voice. She loved children, was always cheery, and had a zest for life. She has a sweetly demure, yet almost seductive, smile. She enjoyed her school of thirty children, and taught them well. Her best friend is Georgie, but she is also good friends with Marietta, Libbie, and Victoria. John Henry and Elizabeth are like parents to her. Tess wears fashionable clothing, sent to her by her good friend, Georgie. She wears shades of blue most often, but looks nice in most colors. Tess enjoys horseback riding, picnicking, and going for walks. Her mother taught her to play the piano, and the Marshalls encouraged her to practice and try more complicated pieces on the piano in their music room. Tess's father, Andrew Hartley, was of English ancestry. Her mother, Frances Riley, was of Irish ancestry. Tess closely resembles her mother, and has and Irish nose and eyes. She married Nick Marshall in August 1875 and gave up her teaching job. Tess became good friends with Stuart before and after it was discovered she was a woman. When Rilla, an old friend of Nick, returned to town Tess was a little skeptical of her motives but trusted Nick when he assured her of Rilla's good intentions. Rilla was looking to get Tess out of the picture, though, and convinced her that a long walk in her final month of pregnacy would do her good. She left Tess in the cabin by the hot springs, planning to have her die there. Nick found her in time, though, and helped deliver his son, Andrew.
