Consultant apologizes to George Bucher

A consultant from the firm of Stantec Engineering which has been retained by Sooke Council to design the sewer system that will discharge effluent into the Strait of Juan de Fuca has apologized to WRATH's George Butcher for a comment he made at a March 14 public meeting.

Tony Brcic termed suggestions by Butcher about inspecting the septic system as "goofy."

A concerned Sooke resident wrote to Brcic's boss complaining that the comment was "unprofessional."

Brcic sent back a letter offering his "sincere apology" to Butcher stating among other other things, that he "regretted" making the remark as soon as he said it and later apologized to the Sooke council.

Mysteriously too, there was no word of Brcic's apology in the official council record of the open house meeting. Or as it mae at a secret meeting that we don't know about?

But he didn't apologize to Butcher until he was tagged by the alert citizen.
