PADI Assistant Instructor

What PADI Assistant Instructor?
Your next step toward a dive career is the highly rewarding PADI Assistant Instructor course.  The AI course is for those of you who wish to take your Divemaster skills and add the skill of academic teaching, then wish to teach PADI diving in your own right.

Divided into three parts; Academic Teaching, where your instructor guides you through how to conduct actual teaching presentations in the classroom;  Pool Presentations, where you will have hands-on confined water skills; and Open Water, where you will experience the hands-on open water skills.

bulletEvaluate Open Water Diver surface skills under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
bulletTeach the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course

bulletConduct PADI Discover Scuba experiences
bulletTeach Emergency First Response after successful completion of an Emergency First Response Instructor course

What do I need to start?

bulletPADI Divemaster rating or qualifying certification from another certification organization
bulletAt least 18 years old
bulletHave 60 logged dives, including night, deep, and navigation dives

What will I do?

bulletKnowledge development through self-study, quizzes, lectures and presentations
bulletConfined water skill review and assessment, workshops and presentations
bulletOpen water workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations

How long will it take?

bulletThe course can vary from as little as three days to more than two weeks

Where can I go from here?
On completion of the course you will be able to take some of the specialty courses and become a specialty instructor in First Aid, Peak Performance Buoyancy, AWARE - Fish Identification and many others.  This is also a good course for preparing yourself for the Instructor Development Course and Instructor exams, as participation in this course can also be accepted toward your IDC.
