BRIGGS & STRATTON BIG BACKYARD
Probably the loudest stage on the grounds, the Big Backyard features plenty of beer
tents and... just as importantly... probably the most accessible restrooms of any stage.
Thanks in part to its large seating and standing capacity, the Big Backyard often has
some of the bigger names of Summerfest playing at their stage.
Location:
The stage is located near the South Entrance, under the protective cover of Milwaukee's
Hoan Bridge. This provides for a couple of unique situations - the bridge overhead helps
bounce the sounds back down at the crowd, making it the loudest venue on the grounds, and
it also can give some shelter from cloudbursts when many of the other stages have to shut
down because of rain.
Beer:
Old Style products reign supreme at the Big Backyard. The best place to get a beer is
at the small beer stand located right under the bridge pier on the south side of the
seating area (to your left when you're facing the stage). Besides being a small beer stand
that few people are aware of, it's located next to the most accessible restrooms on the
'Fest grounds. And when it's a crowded Saturday night and you have to take a whiz really,
really bad, you'll appreciate that.
Sponsors:
Bands at the Big Backyard are sponsored by Briggs
& Stratton (duh).
