POINT ROCK STAGE
Long Live the Rock Stage! Located on the far north end of the grounds, the rock stage
got a bit of a makeover last year when some of the bleacher seats were removed, giving
everyone a better view of Lake Michigan.
The stage always features good, solid, rock-n-roll. Due in part to its isolated
location and the limited mass appeal of some of the names appearing on the Rock Stage,
seats are usually available. But when big-draw shows are booked at this stage, don't think
you can stroll in ten minutes before show time and get a seat. In recent years the Rock
Stage has had to cut off access to the area for shows by Collective Soul and Cheap Trick.
Location:
The Rock Stage is isolated at the far north end of the festival grounds. Because of its
location, there is only a small opening onto the main concourse of the 'Fest grounds. But
if you're strolling along the lakefront you'll be able to walk right in, especially now
that many of the bleacher seats along the lakefront have been removed.
Beer:
They serve up lots of one of my favorite beers in the whole world at this stage - Point
Special. There are three beer tents at the rock stage, not enough in my opinion. If
there's a good band on stage, the crowds can sometimes get too much to handle. I recommend
going to the beer stand located at the back of the seating area, near the shoreline. If
the lines are too long there, consider sneaking over to the nearby Leinie Lodge to get you
refreshments.
Sponsors:
The stage is sponsored by Point Beer, Lazer 103, and Levi's
Jeans.
