This was one of those days where it started off bad, almost seemed like it might be getting better, then went straight downhill. It was the kind of day where you want to just start over and try again, the kind of day that pops up just when things are going pretty good.
I knew it was going to be a long day from the moment I was up though. I was going to have to try and take the dogs back to our house and make it to work on time and I usually have a ton of trouble getting up with enough time to just make it to work. Now I have to take the dogs home first?
It wasn't bad for the first five minutes. Then I caught a whiff of something that I didn't want to smell. Now, both dogs get gassy. Dealing with it is part of the process of owning a dog. This smell, it was much stronger. I glanced back just in time to see Anubis finish taking a shit in the backseat of my car.
To say I was pissed off was probably the understatement of the year. I was already crabby because I stood outside with both dogs for 15 minutes trying to get them to go to the bathroom to avoid such a thing. Shade was good. Anubis, he's always been like that. Trying to get him to go outside is like trying to pull your own teeth with the largest wrench you can find. It is not pleasant.
I was pissed off already because Anubis also wasn't cooperating very well. He kept trying to go in a different direction then me, he was snipping at Shade in the car, and he took a pretty massive shit.
For a little dog, he sure can shit with the best of them. Then the little bastard decides to smoosh it all around the backseat. Not only does it reek, but it's also all over the place. It's on the leashes, my snoopy toys, everywhere. It was on my hands too after I grabbed their leads to drag them into the backyard. That's how I found out it was on there. I put my hands right on it.
Not only am I now late for work, but my car stinks and I have to clean it up at least a little bit before I even think about getting on with my job. I went inside, grabbed some paper towels and started to try and get as much of the shit out of there as possible.
After about 20 minutes, I decided that it was as good as it was going to get until I could take more time out to clean it up. It still smelled, but not as bad.
Now all you smell is odor remover and Febreeze.
The day got better though. After a relatively quiet morning, everything went nuts at around 1pm. All of a sudden, every single person in Berea was sick and had a prescription for it. We were short a person so when we got hammered, it was even worse than usual. Steve was backed up, which meant I had to help him instead of filling, so that left Darlene backed up, which meant I had to help her fill instead of typing. Heather then was backed up, so Darlene got the front while I was getting drive-thru.
I don't think it's a coincidence that I have a major headache right now. This day just went straight to hell and until I was out of the store at around 5:10 (like hell I was going to stay late tonight), and only then did it get marginally better.
We have no food here, so I have to go to the store, then I have to get the dogs, then I have to bring them back here and try to go to bed early enough so that I'm somewhat alive tomorrow morning when I go back to school.
I also want to talk to Lindsay right now, but she's got another away message on, so I don't think it's happening tonight.
I don't even feel that bad either. I still have a very relaxed frame of mind. I was just tired this morning and didn't need the extra bullshit from Anubis. This is the same dog that pissed on my leg last year for no reason at all. Tab, I know you're going to laugh again, but it wasn't that funny. Or maybe it was.
This dog, when you bring him into a new room, tries to take a shit or piss on your bed. He just can't refrain from it and it's so annoying to have a dog that's what, five years old who's worse than Shade, who's only a couple years old, but only twice EVER have I seen him go inside a room. He will hold it for hours if he has to.
So Anubis pissed me off this morning, Shade was way too alert, my mom had already left for school, and I was late for work.
Let me tell you, this was no day in heaven.
I really have no ambition to write tonight. I have class at 8:30 in the morning tomorrow, but I at least will be done with my classes before noon. That said, I need to go and get some food and the dogs before it really gets bad.
It was a real bad day, but there's always tomorrow, right?
