MY LIFE - NOVEMBER

My dad's back and he's acting normal again. I don't know what has happened, but something weird is going on here. Sure, at any point in time he could revert back to the way he was acting, but it's been very weird. He made dinner tonight and has even been cleaning up after himself, something he wasn't doing before.

In any case, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop and everything go to hell like it usually does. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

AOL 5.0 just came out apparently. We just got the disk the other day since they still want us to try AOL again, which I refuse to do unless I have to. Now it's America Online Titanium or something with the new version since 4.0 was Platinum or something. I don't really think it has anything to do with the service either. It just seems to be a fancy way of trying to promote the newer versions.

The only reason we save them is because the disks look cool. Maybe we'll make a collage using AOL disks from gold to Platinum to Platinum Premier to Titanium. Next it's going to be AOL Titanium Alloy before they have to really start thinking about fancy names. It's kind of funny if you ask me, especially since we aren't going to go back to AOL. It's not worth it at all. You don't need the fancy ass service. You just need the connection and a web browser.

I wonder how well they burn.

My mom's bid on the home in Elyria was accepted and the lady living there has agreed to be out by December 1, if not earlier. This has excited my mom but leaves me wondering just what's going to happen between now and that point. Considering that the home is a mobile home, albeit a very large mobile home, room is going to be a consideration. From what I understand, it has three bedrooms. This complicates things because there are four of us right now. If I move out on my own, it makes three. There is no pressure on me to move out, but I feel it would be easier if I did.

So the search for an apartment is going to begin as soon as I actually find some time for it. When that is going to be is anyone's guess, but I hope to begin soon. I'm probably going to be looking in an area around Strongsville, Middleburg Heights, Brookpark, and Berea since that's close to where I work and go to school. However, all possibilities remain open since I don't have a lot time or money to work with.

I don't have a lot of furniture, so that's not going to be a major problem, but I do have my cat which will put a considerable strain on things, especially considering that most apartments seem to dislike cats. My mom wants me to take my cat if possible, since she doesn't seem to think that it would be very fair for my only pet to stay behind. She's also afraid that Kisa might miss me or something, which has happened before.

Finding an apartment will be an interesting ordeal. I will have a little help from my friend Nichole, who seems to have this idea that if I get an apartment, it's her ticket out of her house. We'll just wait and see what happens before I make any kind of promises.

I was reading my issue of Newsweek, more specifically the "Letters" section reading letters about an issue that concerned "tweens," as they are called. Two of the letters from actual kids themselves struck me as being particularly interesting. In the letters, both kids use large words and proclaim off the wall ideas. Another kid said she had last month's YM magazine on her shelf, but that she also had Shakespeare literature on the same shelf.

One kid was a Hansen fan who was upset over everyone, including Newsweek, saying that Hansen was at the end of the line. This girl claimed that Hansen was out of circulation because they were working on their next album and that the extra time was to make it extra better. I'm sorry, but Hansen was dead before they ever had any life. They haven't come out with an album because they didn't have anything left to work with after the first album. Besides, they have to have lives too.

The second letter was written by a 14 year old girl who seems to think, judging by the way she words things, that if a person has a problem, it shouldn't be talked about or known until enough time passes by. She states correctly that a magazine can't tell a parent if their child is having problems, but statistics and interviews with kids can and will help a parent know what they might expect. Nature does need to run its course, but nature's course doesn't have to include 14 and 15 year olds plotting mass murders and destruction.

As for Shakespeare girl, that book could be there for any number of reasons. Oh, and when was the last time it moved from the spot it's in now? How much dust has collected? Just because the book's there doesn't mean it's getting any use. But I'm probably wrong. I'm just as cynical as anyone about the kids coming up behind me.

I'm sure it shows too.
