This whole mess with the election is getting stupid now. First, no one was sure what the hell had happened in Florida, so they went and recounted. Then people in Palm Beach decided they may have accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan instead of Al Gore. They started to demand another vote and have threatened with lawsuits and other nasty little things.
George W. Bush responded along with fellow Republicans that it was time to recount votes in four other states that Gore won. Then Bush decided that while his party can recount votes, Gore's can't and has filed a lawsuit to stop the recount in Florida. Gore's camp has responded by asking Bush to retract the lawsuit or they'll take legal action.
Do we all see how stupid this is? This is beyond silly now. This is a clear example of why the electoral college isn't working as it should. This shows that some people just don't know what they're doing either and confirms that this country will not be that great with either of these idiots in charge.
Keeping Bill Clinton for four more years sounds really good right now.
But this, this has to stop. It's just gotten way out of control. I've been watching what's going on and find myself feeling more and more disgusted. Number one, what happened in Florida to where they couldn't count right in the first place? Number two, how could anyone mess up that ballot? It's simple. Second graders were able to decipher it, but adults can't? Number three, what will legal action do besides cause more problems than we already have?
It's just sickening to watch this all go down. At this rate, we might be better off just running the election over again. It's only going to take until the middle of next week to sort out the entire mess anyhow. Just run it again and let the popular vote decide who's president.
That's the way it should be anyway. Whoever gets the most votes wins. Americans aren't stupid, aside from those who couldn't handle the ballot last Tuesday. The electoral college needs to either be reworked or abolished completely. It just isn't working right now. Otherwise, we'd know who the president is.
I guess right now no one really wants to know who it might be anyway. We might be better off stretching the rules a little and letting Clinton stay in. Neither of these dimwits is going to be able to get anything done anyway. Gore would have to fight Congress and Bush would be too stupid. It's absurd how this has turned out though. It won't get any better either.
I just don't understand it though. The retaliation by Bush is not needed at all. He'd be in much better shape if he'd just let the process take care of itself rather than make threats of lawsuits and recounts in other states. Something happened and the Bush camp is not helping matters one bit. Gore's camp hasn't been much better either.
But that's politics for you today. Not even the election can go smoothly anymore. We've managed to fuck that up too. What are we going to do next? I'm afraid to find out right now.
It was a quiet day at work, which was apparently a blessing for anyone who worked Thursday and Friday. Both days we went over 530 scripts and both days we were short of help. I heard that last night was no fun at all and that they were getting people from my old store, which had closed after 5 because they didn't have a pharmacist.
I was able to clean and fill several cassettes tonight though, so I was able to pass the time. Even today went by fairly quickly, at least compared to most Saturdays that I worked. It also appears that my transfer has gone through since my discount card is registering instantly, rather than on a delay like it had been. I also don't have temporary numbers anymore, which is another sign. I'll have to talk to my manager Monday and see if my vacation time and personal days transfered over as well.
I now have a certificate for being PSA certified though. Apparently one of the techs, Linda was jealous of it as well. She said it looked much better than any of theirs looked. I didn't see what the big deal was, but she insisted that I had a better certificate and that it was too good to be placed with the rest of them. I just kind of shook my head and said I didn't think that it was that big of a deal.
I told her if I had known it would've been such a problem, I wouldn't have brought it in in the first place. I would've left it at home. It was silly the deal she was making over it though. It's just a certificate and not even the one I'm shooting for. Hopefully I'll be technician certified and then lead tech certified (with national certification) just around the corner.
That was the excitement for the day. But it's done now. The transfer's complete and I'm now a member of the 3035 staff. I guess it's about time that it went through. I still don't know if my check's going to my old store next week or my new one, so we'll find out either Thursday or Friday what day it's going to be. If it's at my old store, I won't be able to get it until Saturday at the earliest since I work all weekend at this point.
If it's at my new store, I won't have to worry about it so much. I can stop on the way in to work to deposit it. It might even be the start of my direct deposit, although I don't know how long it might take for that to go through. With this company, it might be set by labor day.
One of our phones isn't working yet in the pharmacy. It's the one by the checking station for the pharmacist and that's made things a little interesting lately. Whoever's there has to go to the phone by the filling area to pick up any calls, potentially getting in the way of anyone working at that area. It's also made one of the pharmacists, Regina, work a little more than she probably wants to. She usually calls off people's names over the intercom when scripts are done. Well, she can't use her phone to do it.
It doesn't sound like much, but when you're busy, you can't be walking back and forth just to get to the phone. It was supposedly fixed one day, but then it stopped working almost immediately after the guy left. They don't have any record of any other calls either to have it fixed even though our manager called late last week on it. So once again, the company is confused.
But what do you want? Maybe some day this company will figure out just what the hell it's doing. Probably not, but it's a nice thought.
The credit limit on my credit card has been increased again, this time to $1,850, which is a $500 increase. This despite the problems I've had with it since taking out cash advances for my car and for my mom to pay part of the mortgage (which she'll be paying back soon). They tried to tell my one payment was late, but I sent it in about a week before it was due, then I sent another payment in two weeks after that. They just didn't process it until after the due date.
I'm also getting all these offers to apply for other credit cards and to buy cell phones. My credit is messed up right now though. My dad's is mixed in with my own and I have to clear that up first and foremost. Besides, with my car and my computer, taking loans out is next to impossible right now. I won't be approved, despite the "pre-approved" stickers I see.
I know better than that. I'm not stupid. I don't want to go into debt anymore than I already am. I'm finally getting myself caught up on bills. I don't need to be adding anything new in there anyway. It isn't going to be conducive for my future. It'll just make things a bigger mess. I don't need that anymore than Charleton Heston needs a beer and a .45.
I do not feel like spending 15 years paying off debt. I don't know why these companies seem to think that. Everyday I get an offer for another credit card, usually Visa since that's who my lone card is through. I have my credit card, my bank card, and my checkbook. I don't need anything more. It's unnecessary and can't do anything good, just a lot bad.
I also don't need Ford sending me e-mails saying that they have all these great deals on cars. When I refinance, I'll consider getting a newer car. I like my car right now. I don't like going through a car a year though. I just want to stick with something for a while. This is the first reliable car that I've ever had. I'm not going to give it up that easily.
In short, all you credit people, back off my ass. I don't need it anymore. You don't need my money any more than I need your fake money. Please, don't make me start cutting everything up that I own. Just leave me alone for a while and let me rescucitate my current credit.
And tell my dad to stay away from credit. He's done enough damage as it is. Did you know that his birthdate is listed under my social security number with most credit bureaus? Neither did I until last summer. How nice is that to find out?
So I have to get the information corrected there. My days off are not going to be a whole lot of fun until I get this squared away. I guess I should start then.
I cannot get into my e-mail right now, so I'm hoping that there isn't anything important in there. Not that I get a lot of e-mail anyway. Sometimes I write and don't get any replies back at all, then I'm told to write again. It's okay though. I get to talk to most people at least once a week, usually when I'm off of work since I'm working late shift right now.
It does make me wonder why I wasn't informed of this. I did know there was going to be a maintenance last Wednesday, but there was nothing posted in the main screen about any kind of maintenance tonight. It wouldn't matter normally, but I didn't get online until 1:30 because my mom was using my computer. I got on, but couldn't get my mail.
This along with the problems I had yesterday have frustrated me a little bit. Last night I had at least a couple conversations stopped because my instant messenger inexplicably disconnected. I had one session end because my connection was terminated, then the computer I was trying to dial into wouldn't answer.
So the one night that I get on without a problem, there's maintenance. So I don't know if I'll be getting my e-mail later tonight or tomorrow. I guess it doesn't matter though. One person's out of town for the weekend anyway, so I don't expect to hear from her anytime soon. Most everyone else doesn't go on much during the weekend either, at least when I'm on, so that's not a biggie either.
I do wish that this shit would work all at once though. That would be nice. But it won't happen. As I've said before, if it makes things easier, it won't happen.
The world just doesn't work that way. At least this entry worked, which is more than I could say earlier this week when nothing would upload.
Maybe the internet is really haunted. I guess I'll call the Ghostbusters out of retirement.
