This runaway bride no hoax

Daphne will wed after night with strippers

Daphne’s  night out with Chippendale Dancers in Phoenix resulted in a false alarm that she got cold feet about upcoming marriage and ran away.  She claims the dancers were so intellectually enlightening that she had no idea almost two days had passed before police found her at a local establishment.

Police in Phoenix, AZ worried they now had a case of a runaway bride when the call came that Daphne aka Groovy left for werk Thursday, but never arrived and did not come home.  Her fiancé, Will, and family members told police the couple had not argued nor did Daphne give any indication that anything was wrong.  “It’s just not like her to disappear without a word,” Will says.  “Our relationship is the most perfect thing with normal ups and downs, but I can’t see

myself with anyone else and she feels the same way.  At least that’s what she makes me say to people.”

After her picture was published all over the internet and billboards in the Phoenix area, police received an anonymous call Friday at 2 p.m. from a patron at the Woody Pecker Saloon on Tally Whacker Drive saying a woman fitting Daphne’s description was having lunch with several male Chippendale dancers who appeared there the night before.  Police arrived to find Daphne pleasantly munching hot dogs, discussing politics and world events with the strippers.

“I wasn’t running away from Will and we still plan to get married June 11,” she says.  “We were hanging out being friends with benefits and then realized we had something more, so we dated five years.  He asked me to marry him and we’ve been engaged over a year now.  I even wrote the wedding date in lipstick on the bathroom mirror!  My life is so close to perfect now, minus a billion dollars, so why would I run?”

Daphne told police she stopped to help two motorists on the freeway, both Chippendale dancers, and struck up a conversation that was so enjoyable, she accepted their invitation to the show and afterwards spent so much time in meaningful discussions about shared interests that she “could not tear herself away from them and lost track of time.”

Meeting Yogi changed my opinion about men.  I’m really happy I met Doug in this wonderful group of ours—I think he would fetch me the moon if I asked for it.  Tasha starts dance lessons soon and my oldest son, Chris, is almost a straight A student.  Our business is keeping us quite busy and everything is just great!”     — Ladybub
