bob hund

Another great bob hund show...I was jumping up'n'down and singing along some of the songs...and, then I got friggin sick...haha...right around "Upp, upp, upp, ner"...so, I didn't see much of "Jag tror jag är kär" and "Mer än så kan ingen bli"...but, I was back when they went Iggy Pop on the setlist...and, I recall the guy who "presents the band" waiting patiently by the side of the stage when bob hund played their (almost 8 minute long) encore...

bob hund setlist:

Introduktion
Upp, upp, upp, ner
Jag tror jag är kär
Mer än så kan ingen bli
Din hund (Iggy Pop & Stooges Cover: I Wanna Be Your Dog)

Det skulle vara lätt för mig att säga att jag inte hittar hem men det gör jag; tror jag

PEARL JAM
OA: Dismemberment Plan

Me and Cinnamon Girl totally missed the Dis Plan...I thought that it'ld be Pearl Jam only this evening...we also managed to miss the solo performance that Eddie did for the lucky few who already gathered in the field...
Otherwise, it was a really cool and good show with grea songs...people parachuting or riding in baloons and Eddie Vedder commenting about these flying objects "They were waiting for us to play their fave-song, Jeremy"..."Is that your parents checking on you, fuck off, they're OK"...haha...
They didn't play "Alive" though...bummer, but, they played a bunch of other cool songs, so...

Set List:
Ed solo before Dismemberment Plan:

Last Kiss (Played by roadie Sean)
(Eddie Vedder enters stage since he wants to "experience some of the summer", He then plays a few rare PJ "oldies".)

HELLACOPTERS

Opened up with their strongest card right away "Gotta Get Some Action"...but, it didn't matter, becuz, it was all about attitude and in your face rock'n'roll this evening...

BECK

Here's that guy who wants to be the new alternative-hippety-hop-funkmaster-punkicon-Princadelic-scratching-microphonethrowing DJ or something...but, the bass-player kicked ass (w. his 'fro as well)...intresting show, but, very shattered, no red line at all (if he doesn't mean CHAOTIC, then I think I have an idea)...

Beck Setlist:

Busta Rhymes
New Pollution
Loser-------------(Alternative)
Mixed Bizness
Devil's Haircut-----(Punky mix-hop)
Minus-------------(TOTAL Punk for 2 minutes)
Nicotine & Gravy-(Something funky)
Debra-------------(Prince)
Tropicalia
Dead Melodies
Jackass
Where It's At-----(Alternative DJ-scratching & Microphone Trashing)
--
DJ Swamp--------(The normal before the spacey)
Sexx Laws--------(Spacey, very spacey)

THÅSTRÖM

Punklegend, returning back to Sweden to sing and play in Swedish again...tight show, played close to everything you wanted to hear, except "Var e Vargen"...but, hey, you can't always get everything...

Big Freakin' Deal '01

ADEMA

Missed them

PUDDLE OF MUDD

Missed them as well

COLD

Yep, missed them also

SALIVA

Saw almost the whole show, really good actually, but, yeah...

TESLA

The intro to "Commin Atcha Live" was wheelin' and squeling on stage and I got myself back in no time, REALLY GREAT SHOW...They played close to every song in the same order as their "Replugged" album that came out later that year...I was blown away by their stage performance and their way of holding the audience in a tight grip, never letting go...

THE TOADIES

The Toadies, just before they split up, again, this time for good...Good show, they played "Tyler" along with other songs from their "Rubberneck" & "High/Low" albums...

STAIND

This evenings biggest dissappointment so far...only "Mudshowel" (first song), "It's Been a While" & "Outside" stuck out, that's it...they sucked...left the show about 2 songs before the end...

RAMMSTEIN

Once again, a bunch of Europeans, Germans, is kicking the whole bandlist out to the trashbin and shows how to execute a perfect show, with whatever that includes, fire, light effects, more fire, dramatic interludes, fireguns and, did I mention fire...? Anyways, this is by far one of the best shows I have EVER seen, well, it makes the number 2 spot on my list, easily, almost number 1...(bob hund got that one, Propably '99)...They played for instance; "Ich Will" as the set closer *shiver* (awesome), along with closely most of the songs of their "Live Aus Berlin" album..."Sonne", Mutter", "Links"...a lot of hits...

DEPECHE MODE
OA: POE

Me & Wife & Friends

Poe, one-hit-wonder..."Hey Pretty"...but, she did a pretty alright show, but nothing more...

Depeche Mode, on their EXCITER tour...mostly material from that very album, a few oldies, "Personal Jesus", "Never Let Me Down Again", "Black Celebration"...not impressed though...

9 November 2001 in Deep Ellum Live, Dallas, Texas

FLICKERSTICK
OA: (first band), Phantom Planet

Me & Wife & 2 Stepdaughters

The first band, were from Ireland or something, had a very U2:ish sound and did a good show

Phantom Planet, them crazy kids from Caliornia, with a hitsong "California"...yeah, we got to see them before they became MTV big...good show...

Flickerstick, won the Battle of the Bands '01 (MTV-show) and did a kick ass liveshow...I was very impressed with the stage-performance and how they captured the audience in their tight grip, and didn't let go until the last note was played...GREAT SHOW...Top 10...

11 April 2002 in The Rock, Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas

MAJOR ISSUES
OA: ONCE A MONTH

Me & Wife & Bunch of Friends

Once a Month, local band from north of Dallas, who actually happened to practice in a garage, right across of the street where we lived, so, a lot of the songs they played, I've heard before, really cool...good show, very Blink 182:ish (along with cover: "Dammit")...I liked the "surf-song" though...haha...Their friends didn't cheer on them as much as our crowd did though, haha...

Major Issues, local band and my wifes friends husbands band...who we came to see in the first place...they were very good, and tight...sounded a little alternative:ish...anyways...good show...

1 August 2002 in Granada Theatre, Greenville, Dallas, Texas

SONIC YOUTH
OA: TIM PRUDHOMME, MARY TIMONY

Me & Wife

Tim Prudhomme, 3 guys and a bunch of instruments, that they play, but not at once, so, they're changing the instruments in between the songs...But, the most memorable song in this show was their interpetation of Britney Spears "Ooops, I Did it Again"...hahaha...really cool...classic...

Mary Timony, a guitar-violin-piano playing girl & band, with lots of small stories from her life...some parts sounded very Cure:ish and otherwise alternative, really cool...

Sonic Youth, a KICK ASS SHOW from the get-go...they had just released their BEST album in years "Murray Street" and they were hungry like wolfs to prove to the world that they're not over yet...O'Rourke, new SY-member..."Karenology" by Lee was my personal favourite...
AFTER the show, I was hanging out in the parkinglot outside the Theatre, hoping to catch one of the guys after the show...well, long story short, I had the luck to meet and talk and take pictures with Thurston, Lee & Kim that evening...a PERFECT ending on a AWESOME day...(have some 70 pics from the show as well)...

20 July 2003 at Smirnoff Music Center, Dallas, Texas

Me & Wife & Friends

SKIDROW

Skidrow did an quite alright show, with their new singer from Dallas...and, their new album Skintrade that was gonna come out around mid-August...They played about 2-3 new songs, but, other than that, it was the good old Skidrow tunes from their 2 first albums that kept the show going...and one Ramones cover, Psycho Theraphy, sung by the bass-player...

VINCE NEIL

Good ol' Vince...and, you really had to look twice to see that it wasn't the ol' Crüe-gang playing on stage, cuz his band was tight as hell...They nailed every classic "guitar-squeel" just like in their albums back in the days...I don't recall them playing anything else but Crüe songs this evening...from, close to, every album...Vince Neils live album that came out later this year, contains most (all) of the songs that got played on this show as well, but, the evenings setlist was slightly differently arranged compared to the album...good show...

POISON

It's getting close, the stagecrew had left the stage just minutes ago, and, suddenly, backstage, CC's guitar breaks out in a loud squeel and Rikky stumbles in behind the drumkit and the rest of the band comes in, led by CC's guitarnoize...They go into playing this "end-part" for almost an full minute, just making noize...I keep telling my wife, "They're gonna kick into 'Look What The Cat Dragged In' any second now"...That's when they start to play this short intro "jam-part" that sounds like they're about to go into a totally different song...but, then, they break back up into the "grand finalé end-part" again...and, then, FINALLY, after a GOOD 2 1/2 minutes of pure noizemaking after they got on stage, I heard the classic dark guitar riff intro to "Cat"...*Shiver*...The band was friggin HOT this evening, I have never seen a band come in and been this intense from the "get-go"...And right after "Cat" was over, they got into song number 2...no breaks...and, still a fast rocker in "Cat-style"...and, same story with song number 3...and, when they finally came to an end with their 3:rd song, Bret finally goes "Good Evening, welcome to our show"...and, I finally take my seat again, totally exhausted by this HAT-TRICK of songs...
The rest of the show is just a great party...and, even CC gets to sing his "classic" "I hate every bone in your body, but mine", totally awesome song...they play ALL of their BIG hits that you can find on their various previously released LIVE & GREATEST HITS albums...They even invite people from Drowning Pool on stage and sing an old Kiss song "Rock'n'Roll all nite"...totally awesome show...you have to be there to understand how great it was...

8 November 2003 in Next Stage (known as Nokia Live today), Grand Prarie, Dallas, Texas

CHEAP TRICK
OA: Some kind of rocking blues guy

FOR FREE!!!

Me and my wife saw about 1 1/2 minutes of the opening act, a guy w. band, playing some kind of bluesy rock, well, they were in a middle of the last guitar solo, so...sounded quite alright from what I heard...

Cheap Trick (ORIGINAL LINE-UP) came out on stage, and sat down on 4 chairs that was right in front of the stage, and started plucking away, acoustically...after the first song, "YEAH!!!"...after the second song, "yeah!"...halfway through the third song, "But, whatta fuck, are they gonna play like this through the whole set, imagine "Surrender" acoustically, no fuckin' way"...and, they came to the last chord of the third song, and, that's when all hell broke loose...the guys got off them chairs, the blankets over the amplifiers and drumkit were pulled off as the guitar player were still humming (light distortion) his acoustic guitar towards the amps...he got his FLYING V, and he crancked up the volume and from that point on, it was a friggin party for the reminder of the evening...
He must've had at least 8-12 different guitars to choose from, he came out with a new one for every song...
The band played through their classics: Surrender, That 70's Show Song, Dream Police, I Want You To Want Me & a bunch more, along with 1-2 newer songs as well... GOOD SHOW...

Taste of Addison

B-52'S

Me & Wife

B-52's, (ORIGINAL LINE-UP)...quite a unique live act, I didn't have any big expectations from them, but, geee was I wrong...after around the 3:rd song, they had somehow managed to capture the audience in their magic grip and didn't let go for the reminder of the evening...
They played all the songs you expected to hear this evening, along with some crazy punk-songs and other alternative out-takes from their long career...GREAT SHOW!!!...
Some songs: Love Shack, Roam & the ultimate showstopper ROCK LOBSTER!!! (at least 7 minutes long)...

16 May 2004 at Addison, Dallas, Texas
Taste of Addison

BLONDIE

Me & Wife

Blondie, with 4 of the original members joining up again, did an OK show, although, I did expected a LOT more from them...but, they never delivered, except the drummer, he still kix ass after all these years...
Some songs: Hanging on a Telephone, Call Me, Maria, Rapture, Heart of Glass, that Tide-reggae song & a bunch more along with 2-3 newer ones...

27 May 2004 in Gypsy Tea Room Ballroom, Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas

THE CREATURES

Me & Wife (Who won them tickets through radio competition)

Siouxsie Sioux & Budgie w. a very rythmic tribal sounding band...plugging their album "HAI"...
Siouxsie is a legend at this point, and, just going to see her doing her thing was quite an experience for me, and, Budgie's drumming still kicks ass as it always has...they played a lot of newer numbers in the beginning, but, towards the second part of the show, we got to hear some good old Banshee-classics...
Some songs: Cities Lies in Dust, Happy House & some real old punkier stuff (very aggressive faster ones) & bits and parts of everything you can and can't imagine...

14 August 2004 Smirnoff Music Centre, Dallas, Texas
The Curiosa Festival 2004

Me & Wife & Friends

The day had arrived, when I finally were going to see one of my absolute favourite band on earth, THE CURE...

THE COOPER TEMPLE CLAUSE

These kids knows how to co-operate noize with electronica and make good sounding music of the noize, really amazing experience, good show...

HEAD AUTOMATICA

This punk is singing in a aonther well-known band (that I forgot the name of, haha), but, they sounded kind of punkish with a lil twist of ska in the side (just a lil)...quite OK show...

THE RAPTURE

With my eyes closed, I would've thought I've been taken back to '79 when The Cure were pluggin their first album "Three Imaginary Boys"...really amazing how close they came to the early Cure-sound...OK show...

MELISSA AUF DER MAUR

Hole, Smashing Pumpkins, she has played with the biggest and baddest...now, here she was, all alone on her own, with her own band, pluggin' her debut-album...and, in what way did she deliver the goods...lot of attitude, sex and LOUD MUSIC IN YOUR FACE!!!...I was totally blown away of her stage prescense, this girl is a PRO...by far the BEST act of every one this evening, yeah, she even kicked The Cure's ass...and I love The Cure...but, I love Melissa too, especially after this show...so...

INTERPOL

This is our generations Joy Division...They get the JD-story, they deliver in the same "gothic" sense as JD did back in the days...and, close to every song is nailed down to the last beat, only HITS as far as my eyes can see...(ears can hear?)...

MOGWAI

I didn't get to see this band, since I was preparing myself for the MAIN event...BUT, of what I HEARD, it was LOUD, NOIZY and it seemed that the kids onstage had A LOT OF FUN making MORE NOIZE...I'm gonna see them LIVE someday...I've been wanting that for a while now, so...(especially after this one)...

THE CURE

The MAIN event...The Cure...opening up with my FAVOURITE song from their album "The Cure"..."Lost"...and then followed a song from Disintegraton/Cure/Dis/Cure and so on for about 7-9 songs before they played a song from a another album ("In-Between Days", Head on Door, I believe)...anyways...they delivered and they played almost close to everything I wanted to hear (although, they have such an big catalogue to go through, so)...a really GREAT SHOW...

SANCTION
OA: HAILSTONE

I got so fucking wasted this evening, so, my memory is what it is, but, damn I had a great time, and everything was free, so...haha...more known as the LAST GREAT DAY IN U.S.A. in my life...

Me & Wife & Family & Friends

Hailstone, local band, the singer is my wifes cousin...so, they where the band we were originally coming to look at...and I've seen them playing in their practice-quarters a year earlier or so...(with family & friends)...and, I knew some of the songs already...they did a really good show, since they have such skilled musicians in the band, and, they've been playing togheter for quite a while now, so...really GOOD show...they played "Mob Rules" as well, by Black Sabbath...

Sanction, the follow-up band...my wife knew the guitar player, Adrian, since before, so, it was like watching a another "familyband"...and, damn did they rock out...brutal METAL IN YOUR FACE...sounded a lot like early SLAYER and similar...they delivered and I banged my head (has propably to do with my alcohol consumption at this time, haha) and I had a GREAT time listening to some GREAT NEW MUSIC...their show was AWESOME...just my style of music when I wanna go nuts...Great evening all togheter...
