Mactier Subdivision
126.9Miles

This line, originally from West Toronto to Bolton, (and on to Orangevile), was constructed by the Toronto and Grey Bruce Railway at 3' 6" guage opening to traffic on December 16 1870. As a result of the inability to interchange with other roads, The Grand Trunk converted the guage to the standard 4' 8-1/2". Conversion was completed on December 8 1881. Under the agreement, the GTR gained control of the TG&B Railway.

The GTR could not maintain control, however, and the TG&B Railway was leased to the Ontario & Quebec Railway on July 26 1883 for 999 years.

Work began in 1905 on the Sudbury-Kleinburg Branch from Bolton to Mactier (and to Parry Sound)

The section from Bolton to Craighurst (57 mi ) opened in 1906 and the section from Craighurst to Bala (40.8 mi) opened in 1907. The complete Sudbury-Kleinburg Branch was opened for traffic on June 15, 1908, (85lb rail on 15" ballast.)

The portion of the line between Bolton and Melville Jct., (near Orangeville) was abandoned in 1932 and rails taken up the following year.
