The Mother of Christ |
Purely human love of God and
of one another reaches its greatest expression and beauty
in the Blessed Mother of Christ. The eighth window is the Blessed Mother Window. She is a child of the human family and nothing more. Her human ancestry is set forth in the root of Jesse (Jesse was the father of David, the ancestor of Mary). In all things human, the Blessed Mother, because of her mission, begins life possessing Grace and the wonderful beauty of soul. This is the Immaculate Conception portrayed at the top of the window. But Mary grows in Grace and Virtue and she becomes a model of human perfection in every virtue. She is at all times "full of Grace" and her many virtues are portrayed by the flowers of the window. In a superlative degree she radiates purity, kindness and patience. She is considerate, charitable and cheerful. She is loyal, unselfish and mild. She practices temperance, joy and prudence. She exercises justice, mercy and generosity. She is zealous, diligent and fervent. The Blessed Mother, in her fulfillment of living, is indeed an inspiration and encouragement to all people. |
