The Sacrament of Love |
The complementary colors of
the Sacrament of Love Window, across the altar from the
Channels of Grace, tell us of His unbelievable love. God
chooses to dwell in the most Blessed Sacrament in every
neighborhood and in every heart. His sympathy in
suffering and His encouragement in living is in God's
closeness. Christ lives on the altar to be offered as our precious Gift to God. The Sacrament of the Mass, being a continuation of the Sacrifice of the Cross, is portrayed by the crown of thorns and the nails of the Crucifixion near the center of the window. Christ is present also as Food to nourish and expand our spiritual life. Holy Communion is portrayed below by the wheat and grapes. But Christ remains on the altar for nearness and encouragement. Since He is Emmanuel (God with us), we are reminded of His continued presence by the Star of Bethlehem. The IHS symbols with the star are the Greek letters, JES, or the Name, Jesus. Through union with Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, we are lifted to union with God in eternity. |
