It was October 25th 1998 All of Stamford marched to Gaelic Park, our team they were great! In goal we had young Davy our great longford man Who can stop those penalties, we shout 'Davy Roughan can'
We had Brady on the back line with McDonagh and Hennessy too. With Terry McDermott and Jim Lyons both playing a part there too. Then Purcell, Curtin and Cummerford were bringing up the rear For these brave lads of defense, we need to give a cheer
Ronan Mooney came to join us, the old faithful had returned. With him and Steede in center, the opposition burned. Up front we had Creamer and John Creegan as well. And to O'Halloran from Kill, the mighty forwards fell.
In full foward we had Gallagher, what scoring he can do. With Ciaran behind the ball, goalies shake in their shoes. Then there's Terry 'the iron man' McCann And our captain Spike Martin, watched closely by Brendan and Ann
Our manager Noel Connolly has watched closely through the year. Sure him and John O'Mahoney even went for a few beers. He's aided my Sean McDonagh and Donny O'Dwyer too. And our president Tom Williams, now what can we say about you. A few more need a mention that's Ann Marie Dowd and Mary too. We'd have no booklet, flags or money, if it wasn't for the two of you
To our supporters we owe alot, they are trusted, tried and true. McPhillips, we missed you this year but we heard you had boating to do. Noel McQuillan was always there and Micheál Brady too. Leo Reynolds, he brought the water, Fergus drank enough Bud for two. The girls they sat together, they were always heard to cheer, Come on Justin, Keith and Terry, every Sunday of the year.
And so the year is over, who'll ever forget '98. We almost had that Cup going out the gate. But Noel Connolly he's still smiling, he says 'that's what it's all about. Win or lose we'll party of that I have no doubt' So it's time to raise our glasses to those men in green and white For a small Club up the 95, you boys have done alright.
