Ok, here is the deal. I am totally for the Usagi and Mamoru idea. What isn't any less romantic than an eternal love that spans past, present and future? Much less a mysterious valiant knight (who is a tad older) and handsome? Well, it's a sweet idea, and an important factor. However, to me, it is slightly unrealistic. They rarely if ever fought, and he was, well, perfect. I must admit, I wouldn't complain.. but hey, it's not REAL life.

Then along comes Seiya. Bumps into her hanging upon the arm of her beloved. Love at first sight? Perhaps.... at least interest at first sight! From the start Seiya knows Usagi as a boyfriend overseas, but that doesn't seem to stop him. However, one must note he always does things in her best interest! The best example I can think of is when Seiya comes over to protect Usagi (which is a comical episode that ends up with almost the entire cast!) and he sees the picture of Mamoru and Usagi. Instead of murmuring something ignorant (I know I would if it was a guy I liked with a girl who was overseas) he says "don't make her so sad". Come on now? That is so sweet! Not to mention, he threw himself in front of a cannon blast WITHOUT armor for her! He truly was affectionate and liked her. It wasn't a purely "love at first sight"... in fact their relationship had to push through many ups and downs. They even go out on a date, which ends in enemy Sailor Mouse's death. Ironic isn't it? No matter where she goes Usagi is followed by trouble and awesome men! What I found to be the most attractive part if the relationship between Usagi and Seiya is that she never saw him as a star. All the other girls,(including her best friends) saw him as an idol, she treated him real. Partly, I believe that is what attracted her to him. He was shocked when they first met and she had no idea who he was. He was used to being recognized and swooned over. She saw him as real. Although she didn’t love him, she felt a strong attachment to him. I found this to be heartbreaking. Seiya did so much for her, and cared so much. I'm a drop dead Seiya fan, so in my opinion they would have made a better couple :) 'course that would have changed the future, and changed the world but hey, no big deal ;-). I go for the guy that kisses the tears away *le sigh*
