Outreach at St. Stephen’s
For a small parish, we have been very active
in community outreach programs. We have marched for several years in the CROP
Walk sponsored by Church World Service to raise money for the hungry in
Connecticut and around the world. We have supported the Summer Day Camp program
at the Church of the Good Shepherd with donations of money and food. We have
held our own food drives as well as making weekly contributions of food for the Bloomfield
Food Bank. We have raised money to send our friends from the Brown Street
Group Home to a special weekend camp. In the future, we hope to begin a tutorial
program for the children of Bloomfield who need help with math. Later we hope to
expand the program to include other areas of help. In addition to making
contributions of our gifts and time, we have participated for several years in
the March for Jesus in Hartford and have marched as a church group in the
Bloomfield Memorial Day Parade.
We have also sponsored many of our children
with Camp Washington scholarships.
Our recent campers are featured in our September 2000 newsletter.
