We love a sport that loves and appreciates us as much as we love it.

And what's not to love. The sense of teamwork is forefront, and no matter how big the drivers get, you'll never see one forget to thank his crew and the sponsors that make it possible for him to be there. Sure, it's becoming a high-dollar industry, and our little local boys are becoming major media stars, but there isn't another sport out there that, on a whole, gives as much, if not more, back to the fans as we give to it.

You'll never see these guys go on strike for more money; if they want more, they drive harder. Not a one of them doesn't know that in this ever growing competition how easily replaceable they are. Talk to a guy who has to sit out a race and you'll see someone who'd rather be out there under any condition rather than watching from the sidelines. That's the thing with this sport, these guys are here because they truly love it, and most would do it for as little as it takes to run a competitive team. Sadly, all other professional sports have lost sight of the days when they did it just for the love of it.

We all have our favorite driver(s), and one or two that are less than favorite. NASCAR fans support the sponsors of their favorite drivers more than any other sport out there, and many are loyal to their favorite car manufacturer to a fault. Yes, we love to raz our friends who cheer for "the other guy", and we love to boo the guy who wins all the time (even though it's because of his great talent) just because he's winning too much. We also love to see the underdog win, or to see first-time winners.... not to mention the guy who just hasn't been able to get into victory lane for forever and a day finally get back there. Go to a race just once, and the roar of the engines and the smell of the race will burn into you forever!

I've always believed that NASCAR fans were the greatest fans in the world. Once I started this site in '97 I KNEW it. The outpouring of camaraderie and support was overwhelming. I've always looked at this site as being for you, the fans. I started this site when finding any information on Steve was a long, tedious chore, and I wanted a place where other fans like me could come to one place to find all the information they craved. Today, lots of smaller sites have popped up around the internet (see the L I N K S page) as well as an official website that launched in conjunction with the beginning of his rookie season in Winston Cup.

This year I launch this page as a place for the FANS to share their experiences. I've read great stories over the years in the fanbook from fans who have met with Steve, and or taken pictures with him. I'd love to fill these pages with just such pictures and stores. PLEASE send in anything you have to share with us, and it will be my first priority to post it as quickly as possible.

The first "so called" fan pictures I got in came from the Miller Motorsports Show from January of 1998. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship with the lady who sent in the pictures. (never know where you're going to meet your next best friend!) Take a peek at those pics by clicking on the link above. She also sent in a picture of Steve with the Pennzoil liaison, Drew Brown, at Stafford, CT where Steve was honored as one of the 50 greatest modified drivers. Take a look at the modified page to see that pic.

Below is a picture of yours truly that I took with Steve at the spring race in Atlanta on March 14, 1999. This section is growing slowly (hint hint), but be sure to see what has been donated so far. Enter the photo gallery (click the image below), and take a look!
