Steve ran a busy schedule at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In addition to the Winston Cup event, Park also attempted to make the field for the Sam's Town 300 BGN event. Unfortunately he failed to make the field.
Steve's Winston Cup effort was disappointing as well. Another mechanical failure took Steve out of the race early. He hoped for a better day in his special "Mission to Mars" paint scheme, but it wasn't meant to be.

March 10 - 12, 2000
Steve triumphantly returned to Atlanta Motor Speedway by topping the speed charts in both practice sessions on Friday. Although he sat on the provisional pole position, the first time in his Winston Cup career, Steve starts Sunday's race in 3rd.
Sunday Steve earned a new career-best finish of 4th place. This record is now the team's new best-ever finish, topping DW's 5th place finish in 1998.

Steve had another busy weekend as he ran in both Winston Cup and Busch Series. He successfully qualified the Whelen Chevrolet in the SunCom 200 with a ninth place starting position. Despite running top-5 speeds throughout Winston Cup practice, Steve was only able to earn a 31st starting position for the Mall.com 400.

Steve earned his first career Winston Cup Bud Pole award by breaking the old track record!!

March 31 - April 2, 2000
Qualifying got underway Friday March 31st. After qualifying sixth for the Busch Series race, Steve followed it up with a sixth place starting position for the Winston Cup event as well.
