WWFOOFing Diary at Angsung Farm, Korea

Epilogue
Mr You and Pun Seok were both very patient, kind and hospitable. I saw a few tourist sites, and did some exciting things like visiting the school , but to me learning about the culture was more exciting.

Some aspects of the culture and customs I found diificult like the spicey food, but everyone I met was always very kind even though they rarely spoke English. I would have been lost without Mr You and Pun Seok. I learnt so much about Korean culture; it's impossible for me to mention every single thing. But it's clear to me that the culture in Korea is often very different from the west, like the clear separation of roles for men and women. In other ways often it's very similar. I could never say one culture is better than the other they're just different; in 1000 years time they'll both have changed a lot.

It's good to see that many people in Korea care for the environment. I know that 30 years ago in Britain some hippy people started to say that city life was too stressful and some decided to go to farm in the countryside in a way to be in balance with nature. It seems to me that this movement is just starting in Korea. Mr You and Pun Seok are pioneers so it's more difficult for them.

In Britain even city people have a garden so have experience with agriculture. In Korea there seems to be a big difference between city culture and village culture. In some ways about 50 years. City people live in a fast and technological way, but they also live in apartments without gardens. So it must be very difficult for them to live in the countryside and make money from farming.

You maybe surprised I didn't mention anything about the the WTC New York Terrorist Attacks. I remember hearing about it on the shortwave radio as it happened. I told Mr You, but he didn't believe me. Even though it was continually on the radio and TV for days I don't think it's very important. If you want you can read my views here.
