This relatively new night returned to Follies for another night of 'non stop exotic disco for twisted sleazy people'. Homoelectric is the latest addition to the Electric Chair's ventures into Manchester club land. This time providing what could lazily be described as an alternative gay night. It is a bit more than that however, and pronounces itself to be for the benefit and interest of homos-heteros-lesbos-experimentos and don't knows, with a music policy that isn't the typical fare to be found in the village.

The venue is a pub, traditionally the mainstay for female only nights, which for this night is tastefully furnished almost completely with red drapes in the two rooms. The first room you enter is a bar area with lots of tables, the most interesting of which has been turned over to a croupier for those wishing a flutter. Unabomber Luke provided a selection suitable for the environment, opting for the best backroom music these ears have heard for a long time. The main room, with a decent sized dancefloor and excellent seventies style Homoelectric sign's, was where our own Hamish warmed up before Kath McDermott (formerly of Flesh) got the ball rolling in the dj booth-cum-pool table arena, as more punters started moving towards the dancefloor. After dropping some of the finest French house her set moved on to some quality disco numbers and hip-hop of the Grandmaster Flash and Run DMC ilk.

The venue was well filled and the crowd enjoyed the range of music on offer. One commented that they thought that the atmosphere wasn't quite the same as to be found at Flesh, but the music, in their opinion, was far better. Whether you're someone bored of the Paradise at the weekend, or someone wishing to sample another side to Manchester club life; Homoelectric is well worth attending.
