Setting up your car system: introduction to car setups- Stereos and car stereos are somewhat similar. When you buy a car the system's out-put is usually the same as a regular shelf system. Just the speakers that are in the car are not as good, therefore they don't hit that well. Car's regular built in Speakers- They don't hit that well so what you could do is find out what sizes they are, they go-to a website like crunchfeild and buy JBLs our something that will fit in the same place as if you took out the old ones and put the JBLs in. You don't need JBLs but I suggest that brand for a car that hits. Putting a subwoofer or Kicker in the car- Cars never come with a good system, therefore you have to buy or make a kicker/subwoofer to place in the car. There are some best ways to find a place to put your sub/kicker in your car or truck. Follow this Below: |
First, here is what you may need: Electrical Tape- Make sure it will stand extreme heat Wire cutters/strippers/crimpers- to cut wire sizes (big pair) Screwdrivers- It would help if they were angled. Plus differents sizes both flathead and Phillips. Wrenches, pliers, socket sets- The sizes will depend on your vehicle. Drill and saw- To cut/drill into your vehicle for speaker. Razor Knife- get the little parts that a saw can't get Hot glue Gun- For the carpeting or any other needs Wire- Should be about a pocket pen thick. Solder Gun- makes good connections with wires, speaker to wires, etc. Something to protect your wires. Like tubing or something. Tape Measure TwistTies- to snuggle the wires away out of site. |
All you really need to do know is measure the new speaker and then cut that measurement into the the back dash -or- you can just place it in the trunk facing to the heas of the car. -or- you can put it inside the car on the floor then place a sterdy board on top of it after you connected wires to the kicker/sub and connected it to the stereo. How do you really connect the sub/kicker to your system? What you could do is if you had replaced the old speakers with the new speakers and soldered it, you could also solder the positive to positive and negative to negative wires together (sub's wires with the speaker's wires) I will have a picture Below to explain it better... If the sub/kicker has volume control; usually they don't but if it does just make sure you can get to it because sometimes songs can change there bass intensity rating. Which means that say a song is going and you got your system and 50% of what you got and the song stopped. And the next song was very deep in bass. It would run the sub/kicker and 60% thats why volume control on a kicker or sub is very good. You never want to run it at 110% or even 100%. That is really all that you need to know. It all explained how to setup your sub/kicker/ and speakers and where to place it. How much is a good system run? It depends on how many speakers/subs/kickers you have. You could have two JBLS ($155 x2) and a kicker ($200) which adds up to 510 dollars. But good time system runs about twice as much money as that ($1000) Note: it is good to have 4 speakers (2 infront 2 inback) and 1 or 2 kickers/subs. You can place to new speakers in the back and just leave the old ones infront. That way all the power is coming behind you and you can feel the nice rattleing on your back. The size of this sub is unbelivable. It would take about 7 Cds lined up to reach the height of this beast. With a weight of 56 pounds, running at 4000 Watts this sub has got to be the biggest and loudest yet known in USA in 2001! |
Details: Power Range (W): 2,000 Peak Power (W): 4,000 Freq. Range: 20-150 Hz. Ohms: 2 SPL(DB): 92 Price out of crunchfeild: $999.95 (2001) *My goal is to buy this subwoofer... |

What is the best system to make? Well it is what ever you want... If you want Quantity of bass and not quality of bass, you should take that RFL152 SPL Competiton Subwoofer above. Quality is the tone that you want. Some subs have good tone but not good output (Watts). Click on this file below to go by my little chart that took me like 2 minutes... There is much to know about car systems. A couple tips to know about purchasing a system is this: 1) If you buy an amp, make sure just about all the output from it is used. You don't want to have more than the speakers/sub can hold because then the speakers & sub distorts. What is distortion? Distortion is the fuzzy or the non-musical sound that is produced when you have to much watts going to each of the equipment. 2) Make sure you know what you are doing when you hook up amps and such and always remember that wires, wires, and more wires can never touch directly or they will cause a fire or damage somthing. So tape up any connections with electrical tape. 3) Cross-Overs (F-Mods) For High Pass and Low Pass frequencies are always good. If you want extra bass or all pure bass to your sub, add the crossover to it. You should never add a Low Pass Crossover to a speaker. You will not be able to here the speaker that well because speakers produce High-Pass frequencies. 4) Always make sure all connections from the wires use all the wire threads. This will make it so that more flow of watts can flow through the wires and will make your speakers work more. This is a mager problem in most cases. People that don't understand this usually call a professional to fix this (which cost money for nothing) or they take back the sub or speaker because it didn't give out enought sound. 5) Wires should be always high quality. Clean Copper Wires are the best for nice instant sounding. With low quality wires there is a slight delay in the appliance (sub, speaker, etc.) and makes it blochy. Which means that when you hear the pound in the regular speakers in a 0.0943 of a second you will hear the sub hit. Which is fine but it is always good to cover up that high frequency with low frequency. 6) For more level Bass the car should have a box sub in back with 2 regular speakers. Where the passenger and driver side is (front) should be 2 small sub kickers. This makes a nice leveled sounding system which makes a nice relaxive mood for you and your car! 7) To make the car not rattle when your sub is up removed anything away from the sub or when the sub is on look for the stuff that rattles and put them somewhere else or somehow make the item not rattle. This improves the sound quality. Rattleing to some people is a sign of power but who cares, you want quality not really rattle power. |
