Journey to the West
 Wulumuqi / Urumqi (10 - 11 Sept 2007)

In a dilemma whether to head up north to Inner Mongolia or go west to Xinjiang. After considering the many tourist spots that I could visit in Xinjiang, I decided to buy the train ticket to Wulumuqi.  The ride on the fast train would take 27 hours. Bought the train ticket for soft sleeper at RMB770. 

Going to Xinjiang was a wise decision!  I really enjoyed visiting Turpan, Kashi, Tashikurgan & the Kunjarep Pass.  Xinjiang is very different from the other part of China that I have seen. Very refreshing ~ culture, language, people, flavour, food, temperature, environment. It's like going to a different country!
