![]() What's the deal with Atlantic?Right after the new album ('24 Hours A Day') was released late last year, I ran down to the local music store only to find out they didn't have it. Neither did anyone else in town, it turns out. Not only that, but I had heard no single on the local rock stations and had seen almost no press on the album at all. In fact, if I had not been so looking forward to the album and expecting it, I probably would not have even realized it had been released. 'Why is this?' you might ask. This is all due to the fact that Atlantic has decided not to promote the Bottle Rockets at this time. Not only did the band have to wait over a year for '24 Hours' to be released because of problems with Atlantic and TAG records, but now Atlantic Records isn't supporting the record with a single, video, or press. I guess the company has decided they have better things to do even with the enormous potential the Bottle Rockets have to release hit music. If Atlantic had handled the situation intelligently, they would have followed up the band's successful 1995 release 'The Brooklyn Side' with a new album and single as soon as possible. This would have capitalized on the Bottle Rockets' two popular singles from that record and would have landed '24 Hours A Day' on the charts. As the situation stands, the Rockets have lost all momentum and are now left with the responsibility of rebuilding their band's standing without help from Atlantic.
How can you help? The best you can do is to:
Hopefully the Bottle Rockets will be able to get back on their feet without Atlantic's help and get their show on the road. I wish them the best.
