The Choise
There was no Kdam this year. Instead the IBA had organized a committee who decided that Rita, an Israeli superstar, should represent
Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest. Rita and her management had agreed, and oddly choose "Shara barechovot" (Singing
In The Streets) as their entry. The song was composed by Rita's husband, Rami Kleinstein, who is a famous singer in Israel as well.
The song was first exposed to the public on the 6th of April 1990 in Rivka Michaeli's Fridays evening show "Siba Lemesiba" (A reason to party).
Rita participated in the 1986 kdam, with the song "Shvil Habricha", which came fourth, but became the biggest hit of 1986 in Israel.
"Shara Barechovot" is not a very typical Eurovision entry, and had achived a lower result, a thing which didn't prevent Rita from being one of israel's most loved
and succesful artists, with top selling records.
