A note on things: I split things up and follow the happenings of one or a group of people so I don't have to jump back and forth between different people. It's easy enough to figure out, but I'll number the different groups happenings that occur in one time just in case. I'll be making this sectiom much more detailed then other saga sections out there that focus on either multimedia or have several sections with barely any material in each of the sections focusing on quantity over quality. Please note that I will do my best to make it as complete as possible, but not as detailed as am episode guide. Also, from the Saiyan saga to the end of the Garlic Jr. saga, It is based on the american version, while everything after is subtitled Japanese. (I discern Sagas by Bulma's hair cuts ^_^)

Saiyan Saga
And So It Begins
The saiyan saga starts off with Goku heading to a party at Master Roshi's house for a party with his young son, Gohan. After introducing everyone to Gohan, Goku joins the party. Meanwhile, a space ship lands on earth containing Goku's older brother Raditz. After dealing with a discruntled and scared farmer, Raditz uses his scouter to locate the strongest power level. After accidentally locating Piccolo, he then goes off to find Goku. Raditz finally locates Goku at the party. He then reveals to Goku that he's actually a saiyan named Kakarott who was sent to destroy the inhabitants of earth as a baby. Master Roshi told Goku that when Master Gohan (Goku's foster father) first found Goku, Goku was a mean destructive child. Then one day Goku fell off a cliff and bumped his head on a rock. After he recovered, he was a normal baby. The bump had erased Goku's memory of being a saiyan. Raditz told goku that all of the saiyans accept four were killed when the planet was destroyed by a meteor shower. Raditz wanted Goku to rejoin the saiyans in the planet trade where The Saiyans would destroy the inhabitants of a planet and sell the empty planet to aliens. After realizing that Goku wouldn't join with the remaining four saiyans because he was now pure of heart, Raditz took young Gohan in the hopes of making a nasty saiyan out of him. After joining up with Piccolo, who at the time was an enemy bent on world domination, Goku went to get Gohan back. In the fight, Raditz clearly had the upperhand. In a Ki blast, piccolo had an arm blown off. When all seemed lost, Piccolo came up with a plan. If Goku could distract Raditz for long enough, Piccolo could charge up a special technique he had just developed, the Makankosoppu! Goku did his best to distract Raditz. Raditz noted how they could raise their power level by concentrating their ki. Even using a kamehameha Goku couldn't stall him for that long. When Piccolo was finally done, he fired the beam, but missed. He beat up Goku even further. Gohan then exploded with rage and burst out of the space pod that Raditz had locked him in. Gohan head-butted Raditz, weakening Raditz considerably. Goku had to hold Raditz while Piccolo fired the beam. Goku was forced to sacrifice himself in order to kill Raditz. With his dying breath, Raditz laughed that they had killed Goku. Piccolo said they could wish him back with the dragonballs, and gave a brief explanation of the dragonballs. Raditz said that the other saiyans heard their conversation through his scouter. He said that they would come and wish him back with the dragonballs. Raditz said that the saiyans would arrive in one year, he also said they were stronger then him. The saiyans had different plans for the dragon balls then to wish Raditz back, they would arrive on earth and wish for immortality. Seeing his hidden power, Piccolo took Gohan to train him. Goku started to travel down snake way in the afterlife to be trained by King Kai. Yamcha, Chiao-tzou, Tien, Krillin, and Yajirobe went to train under Kame.
Preperation For The Saiyans
the following events occured during preperation:
1.Piccolo took Gohan went to a secluded part of the world to train him. Seeing that Gohan would need to toughen up, so he left him alone for survival training. The first night, Piccolo gave Gohan some apples, so he had something to eat. One night, when Gohan got up to pee (japanese version), he saw the full moon and transformed into the oozaru. Piccolo ended up destroying the moon. He then pulled out gohan's tail and gave him clothes that resembled Goku's but had Piccolo's symbol. Awhile later, after many events, Gohan was stronger and tougher and ready to train in fighting. After training for a long time with piccolo, he was ready for the Saiyans.
2.Goku was told to go to train with King Kai who was a powerful fighter that lived at the end of snake way. After running about a fourth of the way, Goku was tired and he met up with a man who cleaned snake way in a street sweeper. Goku asked if he could rideon the back. The driver consented. After some riding, Goku fell asleep. The sweeper hit a bump and Goku fell off snake way and into Hell(HFIL in America)! After besting to ogres, the ogres showed Goku how to get out of Hell. Before Goku left, he took a piece of King Yamma's fruit, which reenergized him. Unfortunately, the only exit out of Hell lead right back to the check-in station, Goku had to start all over again! With the boost, Goku managed to get to where he fell off fairly quickly. Halfway across snake way, Goku came across a mansion that he mistook for King Kai's house. It infact, was a gigantic snake in disguise. After tricking Goku into staying, the queen who was actually the snake, wanted to keep Goku there as a king. After looking into his dreams, she found that this was impossible because his dreams contained images only of Gohan and Chichi. In a rage, the snake queen showed her true form and attacked Goku. Goku didn't wan't to destroy her because she had fed him, so he simply tricked her into tying herself in a knot. After more running, Goku finally arrived at King Kai's place, which was actually a small planet that had ten times earths gravity. His first task was to make King Kai(who claimed o be the funniest being in the universe) laugh. After a series of weak puns, he managed to make him laugh. His next task was to to catch Bubbles, King Kai's pet monkey. This was to get him used to the gravity change. After Goku completed this, he had to hit gregory, a self absorbed flying cricket, on the head with a large hammer. He tore up King Kai's planet a LOT. King Kai then broke for lunch. During lunch, King Kai told Goku a little more of his saiyan heritage. He explained about the rise, and fall of the saiyans. He said that the guardian of the planet was fed up with the saiyans and had a meteor storm rain down on the planet, destroying it. After lunch, Goku returned to the exercise and eventually managed to hit gregory. After more training, Goku mastered the Kao Ken attack and the Spirit Bomb attack. Then he had Master Roshi wish him back. Then he had to journey home. This continued into the battle.
3.The remaining fighters went to train under Kame. After a lot of practice and no real training, Kame took everyone to a chamber that would take them to a recreated past where two other saiyans were destroying the inhabitants of a planet. All of the warriors (not including Yajirobe) entered the chamber and fought the to saiyans. After being horribly humiliated by the saiyans, they learned that the two saiyans weren't nearly as powerful as the two on the way to earth! This only motivated them to train harder until the saiyans arrived.
4.The saiyans who are heading to earth are named Nappa and Vegeta. On the way to earth, they decide to have fun in the meantime. They stop on a planet and allow themselves to be captured. They enter a colloseum and face the most powerful fighter. After disposing of him extremely quickly, the king forces them to fight a monster. They take the monster out with one blast, and then kill the king. The restored king feels the saiyans are friends and wishes them happy travels. As they are leaving, Vegeta destroys the planet. The saiyans then continue no further stops to earth.
The Battle For Earth
The saiyans descended to earth ready to locate the fighters that defeated Raditz. They landed in a city which Nappa quickly destroyed. After scolding Nappa for destroying a city that could have contained a dragonball, Vegeta searches the planet with his scouter for the strongest fighters. After realizing that there was a handful of fighters with power levels over 1000, they headed off to the two most powerful ki sources. The sources just happened to be Gohan and Piccolo.
