With about a decade of continuously new TV shows and movies in the can, it's almost impossible to talk about every major character in the DBZ universe. Here's a condensed list:
          Goku: The main hero of the
series. As you might have
guessed, Goku is really a Saiyan.
He was sent there by his race to
eventually conquer the Earth.
Something went incredibly wrong
on the trip to Earth though giving
Goku amnesia. Then the bump
on the head from falling into the
ravine, plus the training of
Master Gohan, wiped out all the
evil out of him. Over time Goku
became a Super Saiyan.
          Bulma: The woman who encouraged Gohan to go on the Dragon Ball quest. She's a human with too much money on her hands. Her other engaging qualities include being highly immature, self-centered, hysterical and independent. Still, she's managed to save Gohan's tail (literally) on more than one occasion.
          Gohan: The child of Goku and his wife Chi Chi, he's named after his adoptive grandfather, Master Gohan. Chi Chi raised young Gohan to be a scholar, but he has too much of his fater's Saiyan blood in him. It's up to Piccolo to train him in the ways of a warrior.
          Piccolo: When the Nameccian
Kami became a guardian, he shed
all the evil off from him. This evil
side took life in the form of Piccolo.
At first a rival Goku, some of Kami's
good must have gone into Piccolo
when he was created. now he's
not only one of Goku's greatest
allies, but also Goku's instructor.
          Krillin: Originally, the human Krillin was a rival of Goku at Master Roshi's dojo. The two ended up becoming great allies, particularly when Gkuo uses the Dragon Balls to bring his former rival back to life. When the Saiyans begin their invasion of Earth, these two are the best of friends. Diminutive in size, Krillin is every bit as great a warrior and probably humanity's best.
          Vegeta: Arrohant, vain, double-crossing, Vegeta is also one of the greatest fighters in the universe. He's obsessed with beating Gohan and Goku.
