I pray
Just for this dawn, you would squeeze
me tight and not let go. Let me feel
your warmth as I wake feeling contented where I lay.
Just for this morning, you would
forget what has to be done today and stay in bed a
little longer reminiscing of how we used to enjoy the entire day.
Just for this morning, you will
disregard the washing, and chores that need to be done and plan with me a day
we can bask in
Just for this afternoon, you would let
go the cares of the world and smile at me, that beam I recall so clearly that
sunk straight through to my heart.
Just for this afternoon, we could walk
hand in hand, aimlessly, listlessly, carefree
Just for this afternoon, you would
steal me back to bed, taking me unawares and make love to me unexpectedly
Just for this afternoon, there would
just be the two of us, without the existence of anyone else, or anything.
Just for this evening, we would sit by
candle light, speak of future and smile at past, exchange wishes
and hopes and memories of love.
Just for this evening, there would be
no stress or tears, or demands
Just for this evening
we would wonder aimlessly anywhere, even if just up our own stairs.
Just for this evening, there was a cozy
fire to warm by, in each others arms, watching an old
movie, or the stars or the window or one another.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle
beside you for hours, and let the world go by.
Just for this evening when I run my
finger through your hair as, I will simply be grateful that God has given me
the greatest gift ever given.
And when I kiss you good night I will hold you a
little tighter, a little longer. It is then, that I will thank God for you, and
ask him for nothing, except one more day.............
