Saturday, August 26, 2006 TAPAS – The Academy for Classical Fine Arts was inaugurated here in Valasaravakkam on 26th August 2006. The short programme marking its commencement of curriculum was market by lighting of the lamps by Shri. La. Ganesan, National Vice President, Bharathiya Janata Party. Later, the training premise was opened by eminent artist Shri. R.B. Bhaskaran, Chairman, Lalit Kala Academy. The first Edition of the internal newsletter TAPASVI was released by Ms. G. Sundari, former head of teaching department, College of Fine Arts, Kalakshetra Foundation. Vasthu Shashtri Dr. S. Raman also presided over and blessed the inauguration.
