Welcome to the Tarheel Transmen website. We are a social/support group specifically for FTM (female-to-male) transgendered men in North Carolina. Whether you are just beginning to deal with your transgendered issues, are in the middle of your transition, or have already transitioned as far as you want to go, then this group is here to support you!
Hello! My name is Andrew. I am an FTM who has been actively involved in the transgendered community and have been living full time as a male for almost eight years. I also run the Triad Gender Association. The TGA is an open group for all transgendered people but I have realized over time that there is a definite need for a guys group also.
There was previously no means of support specifically geared towards transmen in NC. With time and a lot of elbow grease, I am happy to say I've been able to change that! I started this group in March 2000 and it consisted of this webpage and an e-mail support list designed to bring all the guys together. My goal was to develop this idea into a full-fledged monthly social/support meeting to bring everyone together face-to-face. Now in our sixth year, our list has evolved to almost 60 members and we have just successfully organized and participated in our first group meeting in person.
In the directory under "Meeting Dates" you can find out when we meet and, coming soon, I'll add information about each upcoming meeting. If you would like to attend one of our meetings, please e-mail me at the address below and I'll be happy to discuss this with you and answer any questions.
