OPENING CREDITS
FELICIA'S APARTMENT-SAME DAY
FELICIA stares at LORNA and a smile crosses her face. Without
speaking, she grabs Lorna in a hug. After a minute, she lets go,
holding Lorna at arm's length.
FELICIA
Since when don't you tell your mother that you're coming back to
town?
LORNA
I wanted it to be a surprise.
FELICIA
Well, you've succeeded in surprising me. (She reaches out and
takes Gabrielle from Lorna's arms) There's my beautiful
granddaughter. Do you know how much I've missed you?
LORNA
Probably almost as much as she's missed you. Last time you left,
she crawled all over the house calling for her 'Nana'. She's
missed you, and so have I.
FELICIA
I've missed the two of you more than you'll ever know. Why did
you decide to come back?
LORNA
I got the invitation from Gary and Josie to their ceremony to
renew their vows. And since I missed the wedding, I really wanted
to be there this time.
FELICIA
I think they'll be thrilled to see you. In fact, a LOT of people
are going to be thrilled to see you. And I can't wait to show off
my granddaughter. I see you've met Sergei.
LORNA
Yeah...he said you've been helping him with his living.
FELICIA
Actually, we're married. (At Lorna's horrified look) Not like
that...I'll explain later, it's a long story.
LORNA
I think your granddaughter's ready for a nap. Can I put her down
in your room?
FELICIA
Of course. Bye, pumpkin. Nana will see you soon.
Felicia watches Lorna carry the baby from the room, smiling.
SERGEI
You are looking like very happy, Felicia. This is good thing,
yes?
Felicia hugs him, startling him.
FELICIA
This is very good thing, Sergei. My baby is back with HER baby.
SERGEI
You deserve happy, Felicia.
FELICIA
Thank you, Sergei...you're right. I do. Especially when it comes
to my daughters.
Lorna comes out of the bedroom.
LORNA
She sacked out immediately. Baby jet-lag, I think.
FELICIA
Well, we have a lot to catch up on, honey. When she wakes up, why
don't you let me take you out to dinner tonight....unless of
course, you aren't up to facing anyone yet.
LORNA
No, that sounds great, but I do have somewhere I need to go
first. Do you mind keeping an eye on Gabrielle until I get back?
FELICIA
(sensing where Lorna is going)
Not at all. Go.
Lorna hugs Felicia.
LORNA
I love you, Mom.
FELICIA
I love you, too, baby.
LORNA picks up her purse and walks out the front door.
SERGEI
She is happy to be home?
FELICIA
I'm afraid the happiness is a cover. She's about to have her
heart broken again and there's not a thing I can do about it but
help catch the pieces as they fall.
