THE CORY LIVING ROOM-SAME DAY
VICKY and CARL are on the sofa talking when they are joined by
RACHEL
RACHEL
Hi, Vicky. How are you feeling?
VICKY
I'm fine, thanks. Carl was just talking to me about working for
Brava.
RACHEL:
(sitting down on sofa next to Carl)
So what do you think of the offer?
VICKY
It sounds like a great opportunity. And I've really been itching
to get out of the house.
CARL
But?
VICKY
But I really should talk to Jake about it first.
CARL
Oh that's nonsense, Victoria. You are a woman of the 90s, as they
say, and are quite capable of making up your own mind.
RACHEL
Carl's right. You are exactly what Brava needs right about now.
VICKY
(laughing)
Well since you put it that way, how can I say no?
They laugh and we:

JOE and PAULINA'S COTTAGE-SAME DAY
JOE is on the phone. REMY and PAULINA are sitting on the couch,
talking. Joe slams down the phone.
PAULINA
Joe? (She stands up). What's wrong?
JOE
That creep is getting out of jail!
PAULINA
Who?
JOE
Who do you think? The scammer of the century.
PAULINA
Tito. What's going on?
JOE
Some technicality, I don't know. He's getting off, Paulina.

BAY CITY CEMETARY-SAME DAY
LORNA walks slowly through the cemetary, a bouquet of flowers in
her hands. She stops in front of a grave, which is inscribed
with:
"Gabe McNamara.
Born July 19, 1960. Died. February 14, 1997.
"Do Not Go Gently Into That Good Night."
She sinks down on her knees in front of the headstone, fighting
tears and runs her fingers over the grave. Tears begin to stream
down her face freely.
LORNA
Oh, God, Gabe....I miss you so much! I never really believed you
were gone, I never thought it was real until now. Your
name...right here...it's real and you're really gone. I'm so
sorry I wasn't here two years ago. I wish I'd been the one to
hold you, been the one with you. My heart....when my mother
called, it felt so empty. I felt so empty! I didn't think I could
go on without you, without ever hearing your voice call my name
again, without ever touching your face, without seeing you. But
then something wonderful happened, Gabe, something bright in all
the darkness.
She reaches in her bag and pulls out a studio portrait of herself
with Gabrielle.
LORNA (cont'd)
SHE happened, Gabe. Gabrielle Felicia McNamara, our miracle baby.
She's been the whole reason I've held myself together. You should
see her. She's got your eyes, and your nose, my red hair, and
she's got your generosity, your gentleness. She's everything
that's good about the both of us. I never thought I would be a
good mother, Gabe, but she makes it so easy. If I"m sad or
upset, all I have to do is look at her face and I can smile
again. Everything she does is so amazing to me. I wish so much
that you could know her. I wish that she knew you. I hate the
fact that she'll never be held by her daddy, you won't be
teaching her how to ride a two wheeler, or walking her down the
aisle at her wedding....all of these things that the two of you
won't share. But she's going to know all about you, Gabe, I
promise. All of those stories you told me about Sam, I'm going to
tell her so she knows all about her big brother, too. And I took
her to see your mother. She's a wonderful woman, Gabe, and I'm so
privileged that Gabrielle will have her in her life. She misses
you, Gabe, more than anything, but I think Gabrielle will help
her heal, like she's helped me.
She places the flowers on the grave and puts the picture on top
of them.
LORNA (cont'd)
I'll bring our daughter to you, Gabe. When she's old enough to
understand, I'll bring her here. I love you, Gabe.
She presses her fingers to her lips, then to his name on the
headstone. She stands and walks away.
