HITZ FM has long recognized the power of the internet as a medium
to reach its listeners. HITZ FM was one of the first radio stations in Australia
to broadcast on the web. HITZ also pioneered the use of ICQ and IRC for listeners
to interact directly with the studio, one of many HITZ FM firsts
copied by commercial radio stations.
Previously, HITZ FM’s netcast has been relayed from the HITZ FM studios
during temporary broadcast periods.
When the ABA decides when we go off air, we go off the net.
Music Expo ’99 at the Exhibition Centre is the location from which HITZ FM
will be netcasting its hugely successful mix of dance, funk & pop.
All the top presenters will be there including Darren Krakowiak, Olivia Belvedere
and Rod Cuddihy as well as daily editions the internet and technology show,
the Net Fest.
HITZ FM’s presence at the Music Expo aims to give attendees a taste
of what it is like to run a radio station.
The Netcast targets the most active music market which is also by age,
the most familiar with the internet: teenagers and young adults, the HITZ FM audience.
HITZ FM will also use the opportunity to interact directly with attendees
of Music Expo ’99 to help spread awareness of Freeza, The Push
and the Victorian Youth Drug Foundation.
HITZ FM’s stand at the Music Expo will be to the right of the Centre Stage,
at Stalls M37 to M40.
